Sovereignty, Rants, and the Party's Over | 10-07-26

Sam Bushman welcomes Brent Johnson of Freedom Bound International and The Voice of Freedom radio show for a wide-ranging discussion on American sovereignty and citizen responsibility. Brent breaks down his show's unique audience-participation segments, including Rants and Raves, Man on the Street interviews, Freedom Follies featuring liberty-focused artists and his original song "Land of the Free," and Point/Counterpoint debates. Sam rants about the January 6 prisoners being released while the government abusers face zero prosecution; they discuss why asking government to fix itself is like asking the fox to guard the henhouse, the Constitution as a whip and chair that needs lion tamers to wield it, why political parties are criminal enterprises that George Washington warned us about, and Lee Parker's segment A Woman's Point of View. [00:00:04] Broadcasting live from atop the Rocky Mountains, the crossroads of the West, you are listening to the Liberty Roundtable Radio Talk Show. All right, ladies and gentlemen, Brent Johnson is with me. He teaches about the sacred cause of liberty, all about sovereignty. Who are you really? How much do you really know about who you are?

[00:00:32] All those things are vital when it comes to your liberty, folks. Knowledge is key. The more you know, the more you can make a difference. Brent Johnson is director of Freedom Bound International. It's a common law service center teaching people how to live free the way the American founders expected us to live free.

[00:00:55] You can check out his work at his websites. He talks about the principles of justice, freedom, honesty, and integrity. America doesn't have a special privilege to that, folks. That's given to all of God's children. And today, more people in more places on the earth are finding their freedoms under attack. Brent is also not only a serial author, he's written several books, but he's the host of the long-running number one, Freedom Bound.

[00:01:25] The Voice of Freedom, the website, freedomradio.us. Brent, your talk show is interesting. You have different segments in your show. One of them is called Rants and Raves, right? Yeah. You know, when I started doing radio, I brought my improvisational theater training into radio. So when I do a show, it really is a show. It's not just about information.

[00:01:51] It's about keeping the presentation, the broadcast entertaining. That way people stay tuned in, listen, okay? And therefore, I reach that many more people. And so I kind of call my show a freedom talk show, okay? One of the segments that I designed was something called Rants and Raves, where I would tell the audience that, look, you got an issue that you're dealing with. I don't know what it is. I don't care what it is.

[00:02:21] You have something that really, really concerns you. Maybe it outrages you. Maybe it inspires you. Whatever it is, we want you to come on the air. We'll give you five minutes of air time to talk about your issue completely and totally, okay? So you want to scream about it or you want to, you know, tell people something that's going to inspire them to take action, whatever it is. That's Rants and Raves. It's a whole segment.

[00:02:51] I'm going to do a quick rant and rave, but then I'm going to let you respond. Mine won't be five minutes long, though. Mine will be more like 60 seconds or less. It's entitled, Why the Hell Not? And what it has to do with is this. You know, we released the J6 prisoners, justifiably so. Good for President Trump on that. He promised that we were going to get to the bottom of the truth of the government abuse side of that. He promised prosecutions and action to take care of business, but it's been nothing but a firecracker never gone off.

[00:03:18] My question is why and what do we need to do with these criminals so they never do it again? Brent. Well, I'll tell you something. You know, first off, it's a legitimate rant. OK, and I completely acknowledge you for that. And, you know, the question is, why do we keep looking to government to do this for us?

[00:03:47] And that is really where the problem is. And I know it sounds simplistic. OK, but I said 30 years ago, I think that what we really need is an armed revolution. Now, I'm not sitting here telling people to start coming up and go out and start shooting people. Not at all. Please do not do that. However, OK, ultimately, it is up to us. We, the people to fix this. It is not up to the government.

[00:04:15] I mean, the government fix this is like asking the fox to guard the hen house. It's not going to work. You may you may remember an incident from a number of years ago where a woman had at an Arizona, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors meeting.

[00:04:39] She basically lambasted the entire supervisor council to the point that they walked out of the room. OK, and she talked about it. She put it up on social media. It was a big, big success. But the truth is, the next week they were back in their offices doing whatever it is that they were doing prior to that meeting.

[00:05:06] What she didn't do was she didn't gather together a bunch of armed militia and go to those people and tell them you are fired. You're no longer in this office. You will leave now. OK, now they might have sat there and said, well, you can't do this. We'll call the police. Well, then you sit there and say, fine, you call the police. What are you willing to do?

[00:05:36] Ultimately, it was her name was that was Mickey, Mickey. Oh, God, what was her last name? I'm drawing a blank right now. But the point is that if the government refuses to do what is necessary to protect your liberty, if you read the declaration, it says. All right, I got it. So tell me actionable items then with my rant what we need to do.

[00:06:05] See, in my in my opinion, I don't I'm not an FBI agent. I'm not the Justice Department. I'm not. Yeah, they represent me. And yes, if there's enough of us, we can make a difference. But the problem is there's only the few of us. And if we're not very careful, hey, you speak out like me. And then Donald loses midterms and company. And pretty soon the Democrats are deciding to try to arrest you and me. Right. Well, you know, there's no simple answer to that question. But ultimately, the answer is that we the people, you know,

[00:06:34] the Constitution is designed to keep the government in its proper place. The Constitution is the Constitution is like a whip and a chair with the government being like the beast or the lion. Now, if you take a whip in a chair, put it in a cage with a beast. Nothing happens. You're missing an ingredient. The ingredient that's missing is the lion tamer,

[00:06:59] the one who picks up the whip in the chair and uses it to tame the beast. You and I, we are the lion tamers. We have been sorely remiss in our duties. I'm not telling you a specific thing to do, but I am telling you that the responsibility of doing it is ours. It's not the government, even the declaration. And that's why our founders said if you expect to be ignorant and free,

[00:07:29] you expect what never was and never will be for that very reason, because ultimately the responsibility is ours. They work for us. And the sad part is the American people have been, you know, supplanted with this idea that they need to turn to government for everything. So that's the rant, folks. And one of the blessings of a rant is first, it gets something on the table for real serious discussion, and then eventually putting plans of actions in place for optimal change. One of the next segments you do on your show,

[00:07:58] and I want to move to these because I want to get to them or we'll run out of time, Brent man slash woman in the street interviews. Now, these are interesting because you find out what Americans really know quite quickly this way, right? Yeah, I used to. I used to do some clips from Jay Leno's man on the street, which is what inspired me to do this. And he used to go out and he used to talk to people. And very frankly, the answers that he got where people were just so completely idiotic. I mean, they were just so stupid.

[00:08:29] So what I came up with was I would get people from the listening audience. They'd contact me. I would give them some coaching on how to do it. They'd bring some kind of recording device, go out on the street, have a discussion with somebody about an issue. Okay, well, I'm not going to tell you what issue, what issues you think are important. And they would sit there and they would record it. When they were done, they'd send me the recording. Okay,

[00:08:56] I would edit it for broadcast and everything. And then I would put it on the air that you are being the reporter, not me. You're being the reporter. The idea was to get people involved. That was my objective with all these types of segments. Get people involved. So you're not just sitting there, you know, in a movie theater, watching the movie. You are participating in creating the script.

[00:09:24] It reminds me of picking somebody out of the crowd on a front row in the theater, right? Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And that was, that's what I do is I, I get people involved. It's not enough. You know, there's plenty of people who are going to tell you good information. It's not enough. And it is a lengthy process. There's no way to make this happen overnight. It really is a lengthy process.

[00:09:52] The very next words after life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are to secure these rights. Governments are instituted. That's the purpose of government. Our job is to get the government in its proper place where it's doing what it's supposed to do and nothing else. And it's our job to make that happen. And that's what these segments are supposed to do or help to segment feature that he has folks is called freedom follies.

[00:10:21] This will be an occasional segment on the global freedom report. One of his reports that features live on air interviews from all kinds of people. When we get back, we'll have Brent tell you more about that in seconds. Ladies and gentlemen, Brent Johnson with me. He's the author of the American sovereign. His first book, The Voice of Freedom. Check it out. Freedomradio.us.

[00:11:28] You know where the solution can be found, Mr. President? In churches, in wedding chapels, in maternity wards across the country and around the world. More babies will mean forward-looking adults, the sort we need to tackle long-term, large-scale problems. American babies in particular are likely going to be wealthier, better educated, and more conservation-minded than children raised in still industrializing countries.

[00:11:56] As economist Tyler Cowen recently wrote, quote, by having more children, you're making your nation more populous, thus boosting its capacity to solve climate change. The planet does not need for us to think globally and act locally so much as it needs us to think family and act personally. The solution to so many of our problems, at all times and in all places, is to fall in love, get married,

[00:12:26] and have some kids. Sheriff Mack, standing tall, still answering freedom's call, a badge, a promise, a constitutional track history. Won't forget, Sheriff Mack. How to live free from government regulation, ladies and gentlemen, Brent Johnson's book, The American Sovereign. Learn more, freedomradio.us,

[00:12:55] about his talk shows, about his books, etc. So you were telling us about this unique segment where you interview unique people. Brent? Yeah, you're talking about freedom follies. What I would do is I would get people in through arts. It could be performing arts. It could be fine arts. People, you know, I would have people, for example, musical people, people who are composers, writers of music

[00:13:24] and material that is freedom focused, that is promoting the ideas of liberty out there. And I would bring them on the air. I do a little bit of an interview with them. I play a couple of their songs or something where sometimes it would be somebody who maybe, I don't know, maybe an illustrator, you know, somebody whose work is all about illustrations, promoting freedom, promoting liberty.

[00:13:52] So the idea was to get people who actually work on freedom to get exposure for the work that they are doing so that more people can be exposed to what they're doing and become involved with what they're doing. And that's what freedom follies is. You know, and, you know, I say an occasional segment because there's not, there's not always somebody out there, you know, who wants to do that. But yeah,

[00:14:21] that's freedom follies. So an example is, ladies and gentlemen, I bring Brent Johnson on, tell you about his books a little bit, tell you about his radio program. But then I tell you that he created a song too called Land of the Free, Brent. Yes. Yes. That's my original freedom song. That is correct. And are you a musician? I am. Okay. Piano, guitar. I used to do a little bit of drums, but I'd say piano and guitar mainly. Yes. All right. So he's no Geddy Lee, ladies and gentlemen,

[00:14:51] but he is a real artist producing music. Yeah. Yes. I've also, I've also written a half, probably about a dozen or so parodies as well. Freedom parodies, which you'll see on my website. If you go to freedom radio.us, scroll down the homepage, look at the right column. You'll see like a dozen of these parodies. You click on them, including my original song, land of the free. You'll get the music, the performance. There's videos with them and lyrics.

[00:15:21] All of them are there. You can download them. You can check them out yourself. All right. And another segment that Brent does on his show is called point counterpoint. This segment invites members of the global freedom report audience to participate in on air debates about topics. Topic, Brent. Well, this, this was, this is actually, I love this. You may remember from this, whether it's in the sixties or seventies, the original point counterpoint,

[00:15:50] which inspired me to do this. And I would get, you know, I, I would actually have to plan this. I would get, get, you know, I would tell people if you want to participate in point counterpoint, get in touch with us. We'd figure out a particular topic that we were going to address. And then we would actually time it. There would be two minutes. I would generally take, um, I would generally take the point and they take the counterpoints. Okay. But sometimes it was the other way around. So, you know,

[00:16:21] point would take two minutes. Say what you want to say. Counterpoint would take two minutes. Say what you want to say. Point would take one minute rebuttal. Counterpoint would take one minute rebuttal. Okay. And then we leave it to the audience to decide the ultimate, you know, resolution of the discussion. That was point counterpoint. And, um, yeah, you know, it, you know, it's a great idea. Again, it's the same thing. Get you involved.

[00:16:51] That's all of these things you're talking about are about getting the audience involved, making you part of the show, not just me as the host. The voice of freedom, ladies and gentlemen, available at freedom radio.us. And when you do the point and counterpoint, two minutes, two minutes, one minute, one minute. Then the audience decides that six minutes of opposing commentary. Uh, and the goal isn't really to oppose, uh, to beat someone down.

[00:17:18] The debate discussion really is designed to help you learn to think through the issues and focus on what's important, uh, in the discussions, because some side, sometimes there are both sides that have some validity. The question for you as an American is to decide, Hey, what's true. How do you pull out the truth in that? Yeah, there might be two points that seem valid, but where does the truth lie? And if you use the scriptures, if you use God's law, if you use the constitution, the Supreme law,

[00:17:46] if you use the proper role of limited government and principle based understanding, it helps you arrive at understandings and decisions that will bless your life and direct your steps. Right, right? Absolutely. I am on, on global freedom reports, uh, the last year's worth of shows out of Salem media in Los Angeles. Um, had a guy who would periodically call in and he said, you know,

[00:18:14] I love the show and there's tons of things I disagree with you on. Okay. You know, I'm, I'm a big socialist and everything, but I love the show. I would have loved to have done a point counterpoint with him where he could tell me why socialism is good. I can tell him why socialism is not good. And we could discuss, we never got around to getting it set up. Okay. But at some point in the future, I hope we will. Yeah. Me and Brent don't disagree on very much. So it'd be pretty hard to do a point to counterpoint,

[00:18:43] but I would throw out a topic like this just for kind of an understanding, you know, is it better to go third party Brent? Is it better to declare? I'm not going to have a party. Cause George Washington said parties are bogus and, uh, they'll turn into factions and destroy the nation. So I won't stand with a party of any kind, or is it better to cave and just say, I'll be one of the Republicans or the Democrat. Cause it's the only way to get something done discussion. Yeah. I, I happen to think that the no party rule, do you know that it used to be the president was one party guy, by the way, well,

[00:19:14] it used to be the president was one party and the vice president was the other party. Okay. It used to be that way because it would be the number one vote getter would be president. Number two vote getter would be vice president. It would end up being two different parties, which would mean right now you would have president Trump and Kamala, right? Oh God. I don't know that she was number two at all, but the point is the point is, I think there's something to be said party party.

[00:19:42] You might have Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton the first go round. No, that would have been fun. You know, but, but there, there is something to be said for that, that, you know, there's too much of this. Well, I'm going to vote Republican because I've always voted Republican or I'm going to vote Democrat because I've always voted Democrat. I would like you to think about the individual candidates and what they stand for, not by their words, but by their actions. I'm not interested in the D or the R.

[00:20:10] I'm interested in what you actually do. If Donald Trump does something bad, I'm going to call him on it. If Hillary Clinton does something good. Okay. I'm going to applaud her for it. You know, that, that's the way to think clearly based, based on action, not on opinion or rhetoric or anything else. I'm a guy that says the party's over because I believe that parties are destructive. I believe that criminal enterprises, their private organizations,

[00:20:39] they pulled the liver of government in their favor at the expense of the rest of us. And I think their criminal vote fraud enterprises is what I say. I agree. I agree with you. You know, you and I would be hard to do it unless we set it up in advance. It would be hard to do a debate because I think we tend to agree with a lot. It's hard to get something done when these parties have created special privilege and pulling the lever of government in their favor. They've created such a moat around themselves for protection that unless you get involved with the party, though, it's really, really,

[00:21:08] really difficult to get anything done till the American people wake up. That's going to be the way it is. But hey, you know, people say, Sam, you just need to quit criticizing the parties and get along, go along to get along. And my response is, as soon as George Washington quits criticizing parties, so will I. It's a very good point. And right now we sit in a very precarious situation because we got all of these Marxists, extreme Marxists, radical Marxists out there,

[00:21:35] and they are looking to change the entire flavor of what our country is. And ultimately, it is our country. We have to stop it. And no matter what, ladies and gentlemen, you need to understand all roads of ism lead to flat out tyranny. It's that simple. There's no other way around it. That's reality check. Quickly, tell us about Lee Parker. Lee Parker is the administrative director of Freedom Bound International. She's also my producer.

[00:22:05] She does a segment, though, when we started doing it, she thought nobody wanted to hear what she has to say. Now it's a very popular segment called A Woman's Point of View. If you go to freedomradio.us and look on the homepage under articles, you'll see something that says A Woman's Point of View. And it's got commentaries by Lee Parker. You'll also see commentaries by me in there and various other things. But Lee Parker, a magnificent woman. I tell people all the time,

[00:22:35] call her up, have a conversation. It will be the best conversation of your day. If you call her up, by the way, I should tell you our phone number. We've been talking about our website, but our phone number, you can actually get a human being. You're not going to get AI. Okay. You call us at 888-385-3. That's 888-385-3733.

[00:23:02] And probably the first person you talk to will be Lee Parker. And I promise you by the end of that conversation, you'll have a magnificent experience. You want to know more about her? Check out freedomradio.us. Look under articles, a woman's point of view. Great stuff, ladies and gentlemen. And I wanted to bring that up because I think that's important because women were critical in the founding era, the revolutionary days of the greatest country on the face of the earth.

[00:23:28] And I want you to understand that they have a relevant involvement in today's reality as well, ladies and gentlemen. And even though they want you to believe in the feminist movement, you got to reject all that, but you got to do believe that God did create male and female. And he does have two representations there that come together. And the synergism is greater than the sum of its parts. That's for sure. The number one freedom talk show, The Voice of Freedom. It's available at freedomradio.us.
