[00:00:13] Broadcasting live from atop the Rocky Mountains, the crossroads of the West.

[00:00:18] You are listening to the Liberty Roundtable Radio Talk Show.

[00:00:23] All right.

[00:00:24] Happy to have you along, my fellow Americans.

[00:00:26] Sam Bushman live on your radio.

[00:00:29] This is the broadcast for the fourth Thursday of November.

[00:00:34] That is a special day to say the least.

[00:00:36] It is the broadcast for November 28th in the year of our Lord, 2024.

[00:00:40] And ladies and gentlemen, we are live on this sacred day.

[00:00:45] Happy Thanksgiving 2024 from Team Liberty Roundtable live.

[00:00:52] It should be a day of publicly thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts all that God Almighty has done for us

[00:01:01] and that we have a proper role of limited constitutional government.

[00:01:05] I know we're far from that in many ways, but we've got that more than any other nation.

[00:01:09] We should be a light on a hill.

[00:01:11] And our goal today is gratitude for the blessings that we have.

[00:01:14] And I'm grateful for the proper role of limited government.

[00:01:17] They tell you that I'm anti-government, but they lie.

[00:01:19] Me and George Washington stand for the proper role of constitutional government, just as it ought to be.

[00:01:25] Last hour, we had a bunch of incredible guests.

[00:01:27] That will be posted, and you can tune into that and kind of see what's going on there.

[00:01:31] But now we've got Dr. Scott Bradley with us.

[00:01:33] That's freedomsrisingsun.com, his website.

[00:01:36] And a huge shout-out.

[00:01:37] Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, sir.

[00:01:39] Well, thank you very much.

[00:01:40] We're normally not together on Thursdays, but this being kind of an anomaly of a day in what would be normally a news-packed day,

[00:01:51] I think it is appropriate.

[00:01:52] We stop and give thanks.

[00:01:54] In fact, we ought to do that a whole bunch more than we do.

[00:01:58] And maybe if we get a minute, I'll mention something about that in our personal experience.

[00:02:03] But, you know, it's interesting.

[00:02:06] Some of your intro remarks dovetail very tightly, as I would have imagined,

[00:02:14] into some of the concepts the American founders had on this thing.

[00:02:19] And I wanted to spend just a few minutes on Washington's Thanksgiving proclamation.

[00:02:25] I know this should be something that every family reads.

[00:02:30] But, you know, we get kind of distracted oftentimes with, oh, I don't know,

[00:02:38] steamy, savory dishes with herbs and spices being prepared in the kitchen,

[00:02:42] which is, you know, a grand and glorious approach because we've got abundance.

[00:02:46] But then a lot of football games and then laying around after everybody has been gluttons and everything like that.

[00:02:52] But this proclamation that Washington put out in 1789, I think, ought to be a keeper.

[00:03:01] It ought to be something that's read every, you know, certainly every Thanksgiving.

[00:03:06] And I'd say, you know, Christmases and any other of those things that are remembrances of Constitution Day and so on.

[00:03:15] But in preface to that, in advance of that, in the context of that,

[00:03:19] I just wanted to mention a couple of things, if possible.

[00:03:24] If there were no other evidence than what I'm going to talk about right now,

[00:03:29] about the original intent of the Religious Liberty Clause and the First Amendment,

[00:03:34] I think this would be adequate to tip the scales in favor of what the founders really intended that Religious Liberties thing to be.

[00:03:43] It was not to be a separation of God from country or an ignoring of the, you know,

[00:03:51] all of the God's gifts and everything like that that would be coming upon us and have come upon us.

[00:03:57] But it would absolutely, in my opinion, prove that the Founding Fathers had a, you know,

[00:04:03] not only a high level of religiosity, but they intended that religiosity to be projected into government.

[00:04:11] And if it was not, that we would fail.

[00:04:14] So just in a little preface, let me just, if you'll indulge me for just a minute.

[00:04:21] Remember the First Amendment was created.

[00:04:26] It says, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

[00:04:34] Okay, so we don't need to spend too much backstory on the fact that there was a strong desire to have a Bill of Rights

[00:04:43] attached to the Constitution or part of integrated into the Constitution.

[00:04:49] And so that was kind of the first order of business once they got, you know, government constituted in the spring of 1789.

[00:04:58] And it took them through the summer to consider this Bill of Rights.

[00:05:05] There were a lot of suggestions.

[00:05:07] They boiled them down to 17 proposed amendments, debated them thoroughly.

[00:05:14] And on September 25th, 1789, the Congress, the House and the Senate,

[00:05:19] had passed with a required two-thirds majority, 12 proposed Bill of Rights amendments to the states for ratification.

[00:05:29] Now, remember the states, according to Article 5 of the Constitution,

[00:05:33] then received them, and they have to decide by three-quarters vote of the states whether or not they're going to be included.

[00:05:41] I'll just say, and probably leave it laying there for now, and we can talk about this at another time if you wish,

[00:05:46] that ultimately and finally by December, mid-December of 1791,

[00:05:53] the states had ratified 10 of them and left two of them unratified.

[00:05:56] And oddly enough, it was the first two of the 12 that were not ratified.

[00:06:02] One was later, 200 years later.

[00:06:05] One is still out there floating in the wind.

[00:06:07] No expiration date that could be ratified.

[00:06:11] But it's interesting to me that everybody always says the First Amendment, the religious thing is first for a reason.

[00:06:17] It didn't get past the Congress that way.

[00:06:20] It was the third one, according to that.

[00:06:22] And the 10th Amendment was the 12th Amendment.

[00:06:26] Okay, so people don't have a context that they, I mean, sometimes we make assumptions that just aren't correct,

[00:06:32] and they sound cool, but they're not.

[00:06:34] And so just to clarify some of that.

[00:06:37] So these proposed 12 amendments on the 25th of September were passed by the House and Senate,

[00:06:45] two-thirds majority is mentioned.

[00:06:47] They were forwarded to the states for ratification.

[00:06:51] On that same day, the 25th of September, 1789, the House of Representatives passed a resolution

[00:06:58] requesting President Washington proclaim a national day of thanksgiving and prayer.

[00:07:05] Okay, same day that they passed the Bill of Rights proposed amendments, which includes the religious liberty.

[00:07:12] Okay, which is now our First Amendment.

[00:07:14] On the 26th of September, 1789, next day, the United States Senate concurred with the House resolution

[00:07:23] requesting President Washington proclaim a national day of thanksgiving and prayer.

[00:07:27] So we know that by the 28th of September, 1789, the joint resolution of the House and Senate is laid before the President.

[00:07:36] So here we are within three days of the passage of the proposed Bill of Rights, including that religious liberty issue.

[00:07:45] So President Washington gave consideration and made it took pen in hand and consulted with others that he respected their opinion.

[00:07:54] And by the 3rd of October, 1789, President Washington issued the Thanksgiving Proclamation.

[00:08:02] Okay, so this is boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

[00:08:06] All of this stuff about religious liberties that is currently in debate, discussion, and we want to, oh, let's limit the religious liberties.

[00:08:15] Obama's Civil Rights Commission in September of 2016 very openly proclaimed that they needed to limit religious liberty to as narrow a scope as possible.

[00:08:31] And the purpose for that, I think, is to prevent the God-given religious liberty issue from interfering with the government-given rights that are being proclaimed with gender and race and socioeconomic status and all these other kinds of things.

[00:08:50] They want to say, okay, you can, yeah, oh, sure, you've got religious liberty.

[00:08:56] But keep it to yourself, my friend.

[00:08:58] Don't put it in the public marketplace.

[00:09:01] Don't go out and make a big deal about this thing.

[00:09:04] You need to kick back, relax, and go to church on Sunday.

[00:09:08] But don't you dare impose all the rest of these things on us normal people.

[00:09:12] Okay?

[00:09:12] So that is absolutely this religious liberty concept that the Congress came up with in their proposed amendment.

[00:09:26] And this resolution to George Washington and the Senate and thereafter the proclamation written by Washington,

[00:09:34] all bear absolute unequivocal testimony that the current modern concept is false.

[00:09:45] And people need to understand that.

[00:09:47] And I think it's Thanksgiving time, and oddly enough, this happened this first day of, you know, Thanksgiving and prayer that Washington requested of the nation.

[00:10:01] There was no law that says, you guys got to go do this, and you better darn well do it, or the thought police are going to be around.

[00:10:07] No, it was we have a right.

[00:10:08] We have a privilege.

[00:10:09] Please give consideration.

[00:10:11] Okay.

[00:10:11] So having said.

[00:10:12] We have an opportunity.

[00:10:14] And we have a duty.

[00:10:15] It's a privilege.

[00:10:17] It's truly a privilege.

[00:10:18] So having said all of that, I think that in that framework and context, people need to listen to this.

[00:10:26] And again, this is required reading, required being read in our family every Thanksgiving at least.

[00:10:32] Let's skip the break.

[00:10:36] So here's the narrative, the text, if you will, of the National Thanksgiving Proclamation that Washington put out on the 3rd of October 20...

[00:10:51] No, excuse me, 20, huh?

[00:10:54] 1789.

[00:10:55] Okay.

[00:10:56] Right after the Congress asked him to do it.

[00:10:58] Okay.

[00:10:58] Quoting.

[00:10:59] Now, I may step out of it occasionally and make a comment.

[00:11:02] I don't know.

[00:11:02] Maybe that ruins it.

[00:11:03] We'll come back and talk about it.

[00:11:04] Let's just read it.

[00:11:06] Quoting.

[00:11:08] Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor,

[00:11:20] and, whereas both houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me, quote,

[00:11:27] to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer,

[00:11:34] to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God,

[00:11:41] especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

[00:11:48] Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November, next,

[00:11:56] to be devoted by the people of these states to the service of that great and glorious being,

[00:12:02] who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be,

[00:12:08] that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks

[00:12:14] for His kind care and protection of the people of this country,

[00:12:18] previous to their becoming a nation,

[00:12:21] for the signal and manifold mercies

[00:12:24] and the favorable interpositions of His providence

[00:12:27] in the course and conclusion of the late war,

[00:12:30] for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty,

[00:12:34] which we have since enjoyed for the peaceable and rational manner

[00:12:39] in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government

[00:12:43] for our safety and happiness,

[00:12:46] and particularly the national one now instituted

[00:12:50] for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed,

[00:12:55] and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge

[00:12:59] and in general for all the great and various favors

[00:13:03] which He has been pleased to confer upon us,

[00:13:06] and also that we may then unite

[00:13:09] in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications

[00:13:13] to the great Lord and Ruler of nations,

[00:13:16] and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions,

[00:13:21] to enable us all, whether in public or private stations,

[00:13:26] to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually,

[00:13:31] to render our national government a blessing to all the people

[00:13:36] by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws,

[00:13:42] discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed,

[00:13:46] to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations,

[00:13:50] especially such as have shown kindness to us,

[00:13:52] and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord,

[00:13:57] to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue,

[00:14:02] and the increase of science among them and us,

[00:14:07] and generally to grant unto all mankind

[00:14:10] such a degree of temporal prosperity

[00:14:13] as He alone knows to be best.

[00:14:23] Okay, Sam, that prayer ought to be on the lips

[00:14:29] of every single American,

[00:14:31] well, probably every individual in the world.

[00:14:35] It is a national prayer.

[00:14:36] It is an international prayer.

[00:14:38] It's a recognition of the hand of God and giving gratitude.

[00:14:42] It's pleading with Him that things might be as they should be,

[00:14:46] and I guess I would say that at this time,

[00:14:53] it's probable that we need this prayer

[00:14:56] more than at any other time in our history,

[00:14:58] including during the so-called Civil War.

[00:15:00] And I might add, amen to that,

[00:15:01] and I might add this too.

[00:15:03] Wouldn't it be great if President Trump

[00:15:04] or a modern-day president would get up at the pulpit

[00:15:07] and nationally make available to the world this idea,

[00:15:12] which would be, you know what?

[00:15:14] I can't come up with better words.

[00:15:17] I can't come up with a better prayer.

[00:15:20] I can't come up with a more articulate,

[00:15:23] more humble, more appropriate discourse

[00:15:27] or delivery or prayer, whatever you want to call it,

[00:15:30] than President George Washington's Thanksgiving proclamation

[00:15:34] from October 3rd, 1789.

[00:15:36] I can't come up with anything better.

[00:15:37] So what I'm going to do as president is read it

[00:15:40] and echo it and encourage everyone

[00:15:43] to absolutely internalize it and live it.

[00:15:46] That is my quest as president, and here it is.

[00:15:49] And then just read it and just say, you know what?

[00:15:51] I wholeheartedly endorse and embrace.

[00:15:54] I will be on my knees for one before my maker in humility,

[00:15:57] and I hope you will too.

[00:15:59] Let's stand with the proper role of government.

[00:16:02] Let's stand with God at the helm of our lives.

[00:16:04] Let's let him be the captain of our souls.

[00:16:06] I would basically do that if I were president, Dr. Bradley.

[00:16:10] Well, it's entirely appropriate, and here's what I would suggest,

[00:16:15] in case anybody's out there listening.

[00:16:19] It's already too late, and with our current president,

[00:16:22] we know how things have been kind of jacked around

[00:16:25] so that things aren't quite right.

[00:16:26] But at any rate, for future, if the day before Thanksgiving,

[00:16:32] the president would hold a national press conference,

[00:16:36] and he would do something similar to what you've just proposed,

[00:16:40] and then say, go to the White House website,

[00:16:44] there you will find a reprinting capable to be printed off today,

[00:16:51] printed off so that tomorrow when you gather in your abundant family settings.

[00:16:57] Now, again, everybody doesn't have abundance.

[00:16:59] Everything's not perfect.

[00:17:00] We have all sorts.

[00:17:02] We have sickness and sadness and poverty and everything else.

[00:17:06] We have strife.

[00:17:06] But I think that if people could, to the best of their ability,

[00:17:10] take this and read it in front of their families and talk about it

[00:17:16] before they sat down to that abundant dinner that we've been blessed so much with.

[00:17:20] And I'm pretty confident at some point during your broadcast today

[00:17:23] you'll talk about the starving times and the difficult challenges

[00:17:27] that faced this nation in the beginning.

[00:17:30] But we today largely are among the most prosperous in the world.

[00:17:34] And, well, that's been lost to some degree

[00:17:39] because of profligate and wasteful government and everything like that.

[00:17:42] We still are pretty well off,

[00:17:44] and we need to start working our way back to what we should be.

[00:17:48] You know, and I know my time is probably diminishing very quickly,

[00:17:52] but I just wanted to share with you a moment or two,

[00:17:55] a personal experience about Thanksgiving.

[00:17:59] Many, many years ago, decades ago,

[00:18:02] I was advised by a wise man.

[00:18:06] Well, he asked me,

[00:18:07] could you pray all the day long?

[00:18:11] You know, I thought my first thought was,

[00:18:13] man, my knees would get mighty sore.

[00:18:15] Holy cow.

[00:18:17] You know, that would be a,

[00:18:17] I'd forget, I mean,

[00:18:19] I'd become repetitive and all these things were admonished against.

[00:18:23] And I said, I doubt it.

[00:18:25] I really, I seriously doubt it.

[00:18:27] And he said, well, yeah, you're probably right.

[00:18:29] You can't.

[00:18:30] You wouldn't be able to.

[00:18:32] But he says, I challenge you to try something.

[00:18:35] Try doing this.

[00:18:36] Throughout the day,

[00:18:38] every hour,

[00:18:40] give pause

[00:18:41] and approach God.

[00:18:43] And, you know,

[00:18:47] sometimes settings and so on,

[00:18:48] a quiet prayer in your heart.

[00:18:50] Maybe you're driving down the freeway.

[00:18:51] Oh, my goodness,

[00:18:52] the hour's here.

[00:18:52] We've got to do something.

[00:18:53] Or maybe it's get quietly in your room

[00:18:57] and on bended knee and so on.

[00:18:59] Just whatever you can do.

[00:19:00] Yeah, what helps me do that,

[00:19:00] by the way,

[00:19:01] is I just try to say,

[00:19:02] I'm going to think about gratitude

[00:19:03] for the next several hours.

[00:19:05] And I'm going to,

[00:19:05] whenever I approach something new,

[00:19:07] whether it's food or the restroom

[00:19:08] or anything that I do,

[00:19:09] lights in my house,

[00:19:11] a coat that I can put on to go outside,

[00:19:13] whatever it is,

[00:19:14] I just use that as the next step

[00:19:16] to just express a little prayer of gratitude.

[00:19:18] And that kind of reminds me

[00:19:20] to do that very thing.

[00:19:21] Well, I'll tell you what,

[00:19:22] I decided to do it.

[00:19:24] And I got to tell you

[00:19:26] that I decided

[00:19:27] I was going to do it over months.

[00:19:28] It was going to be,

[00:19:30] and it was going to be

[00:19:32] a moment with God, if you will.

[00:19:34] Okay, now,

[00:19:35] initially,

[00:19:36] I'm sad to admit

[00:19:38] that my experience was

[00:19:40] it was a gimme, gimme, gimme

[00:19:41] kind of moment.

[00:19:43] God, I need this.

[00:19:44] Can you do that?

[00:19:44] By the way,

[00:19:45] when you're at it,

[00:19:46] can you,

[00:19:46] I mean,

[00:19:46] you know,

[00:19:47] it was very crass almost,

[00:19:48] and I feel really ashamed of that.

[00:19:51] But over time,

[00:19:52] over weeks,

[00:19:53] and over the months

[00:19:54] that I did that,

[00:19:56] I found my prayers of gratitude

[00:20:00] magnified immensely,

[00:20:02] and my gimme, gimme, gimme attitude

[00:20:04] diminished to nothing.

[00:20:06] And it gave my heart

[00:20:09] a kind of a respite

[00:20:11] from what was happening

[00:20:12] in the rest of the day,

[00:20:13] and a reflection on that

[00:20:16] which was eternal.

[00:20:17] And I've got to tell you,

[00:20:18] it was one of the most

[00:20:20] magnificent

[00:20:22] growing experiences.

[00:20:23] Now, of course,

[00:20:24] I intersperse it every day

[00:20:25] with Scripture,

[00:20:26] and, you know,

[00:20:28] you try and,

[00:20:29] there's a movie out nowadays,

[00:20:31] and I don't know how long

[00:20:32] it's been out,

[00:20:33] but my kids

[00:20:33] introduced me to it.

[00:20:35] I think the name of it,

[00:20:37] it's about time.

[00:20:39] And people are able to,

[00:20:40] there's a family that,

[00:20:42] the men in the family

[00:20:43] are able to go back in time,

[00:20:45] and they use it to correct things

[00:20:47] that were not handled quite right.

[00:20:50] It's an interesting movie.

[00:20:52] I watched it.

[00:20:53] I've watched it once,

[00:20:53] and it was some time ago,

[00:20:54] but at any rate,

[00:20:55] my kids introduced me to it.

[00:20:56] It was thought-provoking to me.

[00:20:58] Say the name of the movie again?

[00:21:02] About time, I think.

[00:21:05] And anyway,

[00:21:06] look it up while I'm talking.

[00:21:07] I'm jabbering too much

[00:21:08] to be looking things up.

[00:21:09] But at any rate,

[00:21:11] I found it interesting

[00:21:12] that these guys went back,

[00:21:13] and when they say,

[00:21:14] oh, man, I messed this up,

[00:21:16] I've got to go back and fix it.

[00:21:17] They go back in time,

[00:21:18] and they fix it.

[00:21:19] And it's usually just a day

[00:21:20] or whatever,

[00:21:21] a moment in time.

[00:21:22] They handled something wrong

[00:21:24] in their family,

[00:21:24] or they said some words

[00:21:26] that were unkind,

[00:21:27] whatever.

[00:21:28] And to me,

[00:21:30] it's reflective of the fact

[00:21:32] that why do we have to go

[00:21:33] back in time

[00:21:34] to fix these things?

[00:21:35] Why don't we try

[00:21:36] and be conscious enough

[00:21:38] every moment,

[00:21:39] or we're in the moment,

[00:21:40] and to say some kind words

[00:21:43] to your spouse,

[00:21:44] to your child,

[00:21:45] to a neighbor,

[00:21:47] to someone on the street.

[00:21:48] If there's, you know,

[00:21:51] somebody on the street,

[00:21:52] a beggar that,

[00:21:53] you know,

[00:21:54] they're just having a rough life,

[00:21:56] not a rough day,

[00:21:57] but a rough life,

[00:21:58] a kind something.

[00:21:59] I mean,

[00:22:00] I have found

[00:22:01] that in doing that,

[00:22:03] oh my goodness,

[00:22:05] there's been some

[00:22:06] incredible experiences,

[00:22:07] just happenstantial

[00:22:10] interactions with people,

[00:22:11] and some really life keepers.

[00:22:14] And someday maybe

[00:22:15] I'll tell you about

[00:22:16] at least one of them

[00:22:17] that came to mind

[00:22:17] when I said this.

[00:22:18] When,

[00:22:19] when,

[00:22:19] when happenstantially,

[00:22:21] I met an old colonel.

[00:22:22] He was in his 90s.

[00:22:23] Well,

[00:22:24] I'll just mention it now,

[00:22:25] and then I know

[00:22:25] we've got to end.

[00:22:26] But,

[00:22:26] I mean,

[00:22:27] this is an old guy.

[00:22:28] I didn't know him

[00:22:29] for the life of me,

[00:22:30] and it's,

[00:22:31] there's a lead up

[00:22:32] to what happened here.

[00:22:33] But I started a conversation

[00:22:35] with him,

[00:22:36] and ended up,

[00:22:38] I asked him to tell me

[00:22:40] his life story.

[00:22:41] And,

[00:22:42] holy cow,

[00:22:43] when they got towards

[00:22:44] the end of it,

[00:22:45] it started sounding familiar,

[00:22:47] and I looked him in the eyes,

[00:22:49] and I said,

[00:22:50] Colonel,

[00:22:51] I'm Sergeant Bradley.

[00:22:53] I served with you.

[00:22:54] And here it was,

[00:22:56] I mean,

[00:22:56] neither one of us

[00:22:57] recognized either,

[00:22:58] either of.

[00:22:59] And it was one of those things

[00:23:00] that suddenly we're talking

[00:23:01] about friends that had died,

[00:23:03] and,

[00:23:03] and,

[00:23:04] and just,

[00:23:05] and it was a grand reunion

[00:23:07] kind of thing,

[00:23:07] and it came out of

[00:23:08] a little,

[00:23:09] tiny,

[00:23:10] just a recognition

[00:23:12] of a ring he was wearing

[00:23:14] on his right hand.

[00:23:15] And,

[00:23:15] and it wasn't because

[00:23:16] I knew the ring

[00:23:17] from before,

[00:23:19] but it was

[00:23:20] a unique ring,

[00:23:21] and I,

[00:23:21] I asked him about it.

[00:23:23] But anyway,

[00:23:24] I never would have

[00:23:25] had that experience

[00:23:26] to kind of,

[00:23:27] I'm confident now

[00:23:28] he's dead.

[00:23:29] He started his career

[00:23:31] in the military

[00:23:31] in World War II

[00:23:32] in the heavy bombers.

[00:23:34] But,

[00:23:35] but I'm telling you,

[00:23:36] stuff like that happens,

[00:23:37] and if we,

[00:23:38] this Thanksgiving thing

[00:23:40] is,

[00:23:40] is a looking to God,

[00:23:42] it's,

[00:23:43] I don't know,

[00:23:44] let's gather family,

[00:23:45] let's gather the,

[00:23:46] the goodness in our life,

[00:23:48] and let's share it

[00:23:48] with people,

[00:23:49] and maybe make it

[00:23:51] a better time to live.

[00:23:52] It's all about gratitude,

[00:23:53] ladies and gentlemen,

[00:23:54] just a quick update.

[00:23:56] Have you seen the movie

[00:23:58] About Time?

[00:23:59] It's a 2013 movie.

[00:24:01] At the age of 21,

[00:24:03] Tim discovers

[00:24:04] that he can travel in time

[00:24:06] and change what happens

[00:24:08] and what has happened

[00:24:09] in his own life.

[00:24:10] His decision to make

[00:24:12] a world a better place

[00:24:13] starts with

[00:24:15] getting a girlfriend.

[00:24:16] Turns out not to be

[00:24:17] as easy as you think,

[00:24:19] but a great reflection

[00:24:20] on gratitude,

[00:24:21] appreciation,

[00:24:22] and how things really

[00:24:23] are in the world.

[00:24:24] Dr. Scott Bradley with me.

[00:24:26] We are live for Thanksgiving

[00:24:28] on this sacred day.

[00:24:29] We're going to come back

[00:24:30] and talk about

[00:24:31] William Bradford.

[00:24:32] Our first,

[00:24:33] what,

[00:24:33] governor?

[00:24:34] Yeah.

[00:24:35] He was the leader

[00:24:36] for 33 years,

[00:24:37] and he brings home

[00:24:39] some real important

[00:24:41] factoids,

[00:24:42] to say the least.

[00:24:43] God saved the republic

[00:24:44] back in seconds

[00:24:45] on your radio.

[00:24:46] Liberty Across the Land.

[00:24:55] You're listening

[00:24:56] to Liberty News Radio.

[00:25:03] From Angel Studios

[00:25:04] comes Bonhoeffer.

[00:25:06] Based on the powerful

[00:25:07] true story

[00:25:08] of Dietrich Bonhoeffer

[00:25:09] as the Nazis

[00:25:10] tighten their grip

[00:25:10] on Germany,

[00:25:11] Bonhoeffer joins

[00:25:12] a deadly plot

[00:25:13] to assassinate Hitler,

[00:25:14] risking his faith

[00:25:15] and fate

[00:25:15] to save millions

[00:25:16] of Jews from genocide.

[00:25:18] You will go to England

[00:25:18] as our spy.

[00:25:19] I'm ready

[00:25:20] to meet my destiny.

[00:25:22] Bonhoeffer,

[00:26:00] A prisoner swap

[00:26:01] has led to the release

[00:26:02] of several Americans

[00:26:03] by China

[00:26:04] and the release

[00:26:05] by the U.S.

[00:26:06] of one Chinese citizen,

[00:26:07] the BBC's

[00:26:08] Stephen McDonald

[00:26:08] in Beijing.

[00:26:09] If the reports are correct,

[00:26:11] the prisoner

[00:26:12] being returned

[00:26:13] to China

[00:26:13] is a spy

[00:26:14] who'd been

[00:26:15] lured to Belgium

[00:26:17] and caught

[00:26:18] by the FBI

[00:26:19] in a sting operation.

[00:26:20] So quite a valuable person

[00:26:22] for China

[00:26:22] to get back.

[00:26:24] But really,

[00:26:24] what this is all about

[00:26:25] is showing

[00:26:27] that China

[00:26:28] is prepared

[00:26:28] to do deals

[00:26:29] with the U.S.

[00:26:30] Part of this deal

[00:26:32] was the U.S.

[00:26:34] easing up

[00:26:34] its travel warning

[00:26:36] for China.

[00:26:38] At least seven people

[00:26:39] have died

[00:26:40] in a landslide

[00:26:41] that was triggered

[00:26:41] by torrential rains

[00:26:42] in Indonesia's

[00:26:43] Sumatra Island,

[00:26:44] adding to the death toll

[00:26:46] from landslides

[00:26:47] in the region

[00:26:47] earlier this week.

[00:26:48] Rescuers recovered

[00:26:49] the bodies

[00:26:50] of the victims,

[00:26:50] including the driver

[00:26:51] and passengers

[00:26:52] from a tourist bus

[00:26:53] that was covered

[00:26:54] by trees,

[00:26:55] mud,

[00:26:55] and rocks.

[00:27:00] Solar storms

[00:27:01] could produce

[00:27:02] quite a show

[00:27:02] tonight and tomorrow

[00:27:03] night depending

[00:27:04] on where you are.

[00:27:05] Pale auroras

[00:27:06] may be seen

[00:27:07] Thursday and Friday

[00:27:08] across northern states

[00:27:09] including Montana,

[00:27:11] Minnesota

[00:27:11] and upper New York

[00:27:12] as well as much

[00:27:13] of Wisconsin

[00:27:14] and Michigan.

[00:27:16] NOAA meteorologist

[00:27:17] Matt Betwee

[00:27:18] says the auroras

[00:27:19] may last only briefly

[00:27:20] and seeing them

[00:27:21] will depend

[00:27:21] on how intense

[00:27:22] the solar storms get.

[00:27:24] to see the spectacle,

[00:27:26] wait for clear skies

[00:27:27] to get dark

[00:27:28] and then go outside

[00:27:29] away from bright

[00:27:30] city lights.

[00:27:31] Keith Peters

[00:27:32] reporting.

[00:27:33] It's called

[00:27:33] the Alaska Turkey Bomb.

[00:27:35] For the third

[00:27:35] Thanksgiving in a row,

[00:27:37] frozen turkeys

[00:27:38] being airdropped

[00:27:39] to people living

[00:27:39] in remote areas

[00:27:41] of Alaska.

[00:27:42] The woman who started

[00:27:42] the whole thing

[00:27:43] says it began

[00:27:44] after she found out

[00:27:45] that a family of three

[00:27:46] had just one squirrel

[00:27:47] to split for Thanksgiving.

[00:27:48] The plan is to drop

[00:27:50] 32 turkeys this year

[00:27:51] with more to come

[00:27:52] in future years.

[00:30:36] and I want to spend time

[00:30:37] with you on Thanksgiving.

[00:30:38] I want to also focus

[00:30:39] on pointing people

[00:30:40] to Christ.

[00:30:42] Absolutely Jesus Christ

[00:30:43] waiting for the King

[00:30:45] to return,

[00:30:45] ladies and gentlemen.

[00:30:46] No King but King Jesus.

[00:30:48] Jesus Christ throws down for you

[00:30:50] so you need to throw down

[00:30:52] for him is the point.

[00:30:53] Our founding fathers

[00:30:54] had tremendous faith

[00:30:55] realizing that we turn

[00:30:57] to God, not government.

[00:30:59] William Bradford

[00:31:00] learned some valuable lessons

[00:31:01] along this reality check

[00:31:03] if you will.

[00:31:04] He was the governor

[00:31:05] of the pilgrims

[00:31:06] for 33 years,

[00:31:07] ladies and gentlemen

[00:31:07] and he wrote their history

[00:31:09] in great detail.

[00:31:11] It's called

[00:31:12] Of Plymouth Plantation

[00:31:13] is what it's called.

[00:31:14] Of Plymouth Plantation

[00:31:16] which is one

[00:31:17] of the great

[00:31:18] historical

[00:31:19] and literary works

[00:31:20] of all

[00:31:21] American history, folks.

[00:31:23] It really is.

[00:31:24] But believe it or not

[00:31:25] few teachers

[00:31:26] have even heard of it

[00:31:27] much less

[00:31:28] have read it

[00:31:29] or teach it.

[00:31:30] That's the problem.

[00:31:31] You only need to read

[00:31:33] a few pages

[00:31:34] of this thing

[00:31:35] to see

[00:31:36] the sincere

[00:31:37] and deep faith

[00:31:39] of these men

[00:31:41] and women

[00:31:41] who served

[00:31:43] as stepping stones

[00:31:44] for us

[00:31:46] for those

[00:31:46] who would follow.

[00:31:48] The American Family

[00:31:49] Association

[00:31:51] focuses on this

[00:31:52] quite a bit

[00:31:52] and I commend them

[00:31:53] for doing so.

[00:31:55] So I want to tell

[00:31:56] the story of William Bradford

[00:31:57] really quick

[00:31:58] and I don't want to butcher it

[00:31:59] but I don't want to make it

[00:32:00] too long either.

[00:32:01] But here's the short

[00:32:02] summary of it.

[00:32:03] They were all starving.

[00:32:04] You know what?

[00:32:05] They had nothing.

[00:32:06] They were melting

[00:32:08] down.

[00:32:09] Death was all around them

[00:32:10] and death was imminent.

[00:32:13] And the reason

[00:32:13] is the actions

[00:32:15] they took.

[00:32:16] At first

[00:32:17] they kind of had a covenant

[00:32:18] with everyone

[00:32:18] that said hey

[00:32:19] you know what?

[00:32:20] All for one

[00:32:20] one for all

[00:32:21] socialism

[00:32:22] on steroids

[00:32:23] and we're going to go ahead

[00:32:24] and you know

[00:32:25] and so what happened

[00:32:26] is a few people worked

[00:32:27] most folks were lazy.

[00:32:28] Most folks were kind of like

[00:32:29] hey everybody else

[00:32:30] has got this thing

[00:32:31] the fields look great

[00:32:32] keep it up.

[00:32:33] Kind of an idea

[00:32:34] as they sat around

[00:32:35] and while you're at it

[00:32:36] harvest

[00:32:37] and you know

[00:32:37] kind of a thing.

[00:32:39] And they were failing.

[00:32:41] And Governor Bradford

[00:32:42] I'm sure

[00:32:43] was on his knees.

[00:32:45] What do I do?

[00:32:46] What do we do?

[00:32:47] How do we solve this?

[00:32:48] And they decided

[00:32:49] to say hey

[00:32:51] we're going to die

[00:32:51] if we do what we're doing.

[00:32:52] So we've got

[00:32:53] to do something different.

[00:32:55] You know what?

[00:32:56] Everybody's going to

[00:32:56] sink or swim

[00:32:57] on their own.

[00:33:01] Wow.

[00:33:02] When they put

[00:33:03] that policy in place

[00:33:04] people decided

[00:33:04] they're not going to

[00:33:05] just walk by the fields

[00:33:06] and smile

[00:33:07] and hang out

[00:33:08] for the day

[00:33:08] in their hammock.

[00:33:09] they decided

[00:33:10] I better work

[00:33:11] or I'm going to die.

[00:33:12] And lo and behold

[00:33:14] the pilgrims

[00:33:16] flourished.

[00:33:17] Lo and behold

[00:33:18] they found

[00:33:19] the blueprint

[00:33:20] for success.

[00:33:22] And believe it or not

[00:33:23] that Governor Bradford

[00:33:24] story

[00:33:25] that's detailed

[00:33:26] very

[00:33:27] very

[00:33:28] meticulously

[00:33:29] in their history

[00:33:30] of Plymouth Plantation

[00:33:32] and it details

[00:33:33] it to where

[00:33:34] it basically

[00:33:34] helps you understand

[00:33:35] socialism was

[00:33:36] absolutely flat out

[00:33:37] rejected

[00:33:38] because they were

[00:33:39] about to die

[00:33:40] as a result of it.

[00:33:41] And it was replaced

[00:33:42] with free markets.

[00:33:43] It was replaced

[00:33:44] with individual

[00:33:45] self-determination.

[00:33:48] And when that

[00:33:49] happened

[00:33:49] boom

[00:33:50] they created

[00:33:50] the beginnings

[00:33:51] of the greatest

[00:33:52] economic engine

[00:33:53] ever known.

[00:33:55] The founding fathers

[00:33:56] did not

[00:33:57] let that

[00:33:59] historical

[00:33:59] reality

[00:34:00] be lost

[00:34:01] on them.

[00:34:01] No sir.

[00:34:02] They decided

[00:34:03] to take

[00:34:04] that

[00:34:05] grand old

[00:34:06] experiment

[00:34:08] and the success

[00:34:09] that came

[00:34:10] from that

[00:34:11] experiment

[00:34:11] and put it

[00:34:12] in place

[00:34:12] for the

[00:34:13] greatest nation

[00:34:13] on the earth.

[00:34:15] And they then

[00:34:16] with that

[00:34:16] understanding

[00:34:17] built the

[00:34:18] greatest economic

[00:34:19] engine the world

[00:34:19] has ever

[00:34:20] known.

[00:34:22] What a reality

[00:34:23] check Dr. Bradley.

[00:34:24] Bradley?

[00:34:26] You know

[00:34:28] Bradford's story

[00:34:29] is a very

[00:34:29] interesting read

[00:34:30] and the spelling

[00:34:31] you've got to

[00:34:32] look beyond that

[00:34:33] because there

[00:34:33] wasn't a standardized

[00:34:34] spelling so if

[00:34:35] you're going to

[00:34:35] read it

[00:34:36] don't think

[00:34:37] there's errors

[00:34:37] in the printing.

[00:34:39] But you know

[00:34:40] there is a

[00:34:40] back story

[00:34:41] to the back story

[00:34:41] even if you

[00:34:42] want to think

[00:34:43] about it

[00:34:43] for just a second.

[00:34:45] The

[00:34:48] pilgrims

[00:34:48] had spent

[00:34:49] some time

[00:34:49] in Holland

[00:34:50] and they

[00:34:51] were worried

[00:34:52] their kids

[00:34:52] being integrated

[00:34:53] into another

[00:34:55] culture

[00:34:55] and all this

[00:34:56] kind of stuff.

[00:34:56] They decided

[00:34:57] they were going

[00:34:57] to relocate

[00:34:58] and keep

[00:34:58] together.

[00:35:00] When they

[00:35:00] got to

[00:35:01] America

[00:35:02] they landed

[00:35:03] north of

[00:35:04] where they

[00:35:05] had anticipated

[00:35:06] and you know

[00:35:08] the Plymouth

[00:35:08] Rock thing

[00:35:09] and that story

[00:35:10] and everything

[00:35:10] like that.

[00:35:10] If you haven't

[00:35:11] been aboard

[00:35:12] the Mayflower

[00:35:15] replica

[00:35:15] it's not the

[00:35:16] original one

[00:35:16] of course

[00:35:18] I can't even

[00:35:19] stand up

[00:35:20] in the

[00:35:20] hold beneath

[00:35:21] where all

[00:35:21] of the people

[00:35:22] Oh no

[00:35:23] it's just

[00:35:23] shocking

[00:35:23] It is absolutely

[00:35:25] short people

[00:35:27] places

[00:35:27] okay

[00:35:27] little cubbies

[00:35:29] that everybody

[00:35:29] was in

[00:35:30] but beyond

[00:35:31] that

[00:35:31] I mean

[00:35:31] these are

[00:35:32] little wooden

[00:35:33] ships

[00:35:33] people

[00:35:34] you wouldn't

[00:35:35] go on

[00:35:35] a lake

[00:35:37] on these

[00:35:37] probably

[00:35:38] with your

[00:35:38] family

[00:35:39] for an

[00:35:39] outing

[00:35:40] I mean

[00:35:40] you'd be

[00:35:40] worried

[00:35:41] about the

[00:35:41] rickety

[00:35:42] little thing

[00:35:42] falling apart

[00:35:43] but they

[00:35:43] were little

[00:35:44] wooden ships

[00:35:44] they came

[00:35:45] across the

[00:35:45] vast deep

[00:35:46] they got

[00:35:47] there in

[00:35:48] November

[00:35:48] now any

[00:35:49] of you

[00:35:49] that have

[00:35:49] been in

[00:35:50] New

[00:35:50] England

[00:35:50] in

[00:35:50] November

[00:35:51] know

[00:35:51] that it

[00:35:51] is not

[00:35:52] exactly

[00:35:53] a balmy

[00:35:53] you know

[00:35:54] kind of

[00:35:55] environment

[00:35:56] and they

[00:35:57] stayed

[00:35:57] on board

[00:35:58] for a little

[00:35:58] while

[00:35:58] and they

[00:35:59] decided

[00:35:59] they better

[00:35:59] put

[00:35:59] this

[00:36:00] Mayflower

[00:36:00] compact

[00:36:01] thing

[00:36:01] together

[00:36:03] without going

[00:36:04] through it

[00:36:04] completely

[00:36:05] O'Brien

[00:36:06] he means

[00:36:06] anything

[00:36:07] they begin

[00:36:08] this compact

[00:36:09] it's the first

[00:36:10] American state

[00:36:11] paper

[00:36:12] it's not a

[00:36:13] constitution

[00:36:13] or anything

[00:36:14] per se

[00:36:14] but they

[00:36:16] begin it

[00:36:16] in the way

[00:36:17] a lot of us

[00:36:17] end something

[00:36:18] similar

[00:36:19] on our prayers

[00:36:19] in the name

[00:36:20] of God

[00:36:20] amen

[00:36:21] they're getting

[00:36:21] God in the

[00:36:22] middle of this

[00:36:22] covenant

[00:36:23] that they're

[00:36:23] making with

[00:36:24] each other

[00:36:24] Sam mentioned

[00:36:25] that they

[00:36:26] started off

[00:36:26] pretty good

[00:36:27] on that

[00:36:27] thing

[00:36:27] they seem

[00:36:28] to

[00:36:28] the wheels

[00:36:29] fell off

[00:36:29] it a little

[00:36:30] bit

[00:36:30] and they

[00:36:30] got into

[00:36:30] starving

[00:36:31] times

[00:36:31] maybe

[00:36:31] we'll

[00:36:31] get to

[00:36:32] that

[00:36:32] in a

[00:36:32] second

[00:36:32] yeah

[00:36:33] they

[00:36:33] meant

[00:36:33] well

[00:36:34] but were

[00:36:34] misdirected

[00:36:35] like many

[00:36:36] are is the

[00:36:36] point

[00:36:37] well

[00:36:37] what they

[00:36:38] what they did

[00:36:39] is you know

[00:36:40] they put

[00:36:40] down the

[00:36:41] reasons

[00:36:41] they had

[00:36:42] come

[00:36:42] and the

[00:36:42] principal

[00:36:43] primary

[00:36:43] reason

[00:36:44] was for

[00:36:44] the advancement

[00:36:45] of the

[00:36:45] Christian

[00:36:45] faith

[00:36:45] again

[00:36:46] a testimony

[00:36:47] of what

[00:36:48] this land

[00:36:49] was founded

[00:36:49] on

[00:36:50] so at any

[00:36:51] rate

[00:36:51] we roll

[00:36:52] forward

[00:36:52] a little

[00:36:52] bit

[00:36:53] and

[00:36:53] well

[00:36:54] first

[00:36:54] I gotta

[00:36:55] go back

[00:36:55] I mentioned

[00:36:56] they'd been

[00:36:56] in Holland

[00:36:57] they had

[00:36:57] some debts

[00:36:58] and they'd

[00:36:59] put away

[00:36:59] stores

[00:37:00] to make

[00:37:01] them be

[00:37:01] able to

[00:37:02] go on

[00:37:02] their journey

[00:37:03] and so

[00:37:04] they'd put

[00:37:04] and butter

[00:37:05] as you

[00:37:05] might well

[00:37:06] imagine

[00:37:06] is a

[00:37:07] high calorie

[00:37:08] kind of

[00:37:09] furnace

[00:37:10] builder

[00:37:10] for people

[00:37:11] if you

[00:37:11] can eat

[00:37:11] that high

[00:37:12] calorie

[00:37:12] stuff

[00:37:13] you keep

[00:37:14] the furnace

[00:37:14] in your

[00:37:14] body

[00:37:15] going

[00:37:15] and you

[00:37:15] end up

[00:37:16] being able

[00:37:17] to get

[00:37:17] through

[00:37:17] cold

[00:37:18] times

[00:37:18] well

[00:37:19] they had

[00:37:20] sold

[00:37:20] a great

[00:37:21] deal

[00:37:21] of those

[00:37:22] high calorie

[00:37:23] stores

[00:37:23] to pay

[00:37:24] some debts

[00:37:25] they had

[00:37:25] they were

[00:37:25] honorable

[00:37:26] people

[00:37:26] and they

[00:37:26] wanted to

[00:37:27] walk out

[00:37:27] the town

[00:37:28] without

[00:37:28] leaving behind

[00:37:30] some people

[00:37:30] that had

[00:37:31] been short

[00:37:32] changed

[00:37:32] so they

[00:37:33] sold a lot

[00:37:34] of those

[00:37:34] stores

[00:37:35] well they

[00:37:35] got here

[00:37:36] to America

[00:37:36] and by golly

[00:37:37] they needed

[00:37:37] those stores

[00:37:38] by the first

[00:37:39] spring

[00:37:40] about half

[00:37:40] of the wives

[00:37:41] had died

[00:37:43] and other

[00:37:44] people too

[00:37:44] one of my

[00:37:45] ancestors died

[00:37:46] during that

[00:37:47] first winter

[00:37:48] and they

[00:37:49] buried them

[00:37:50] on a hillside

[00:37:51] and they

[00:37:51] oversold

[00:37:51] the hillside

[00:37:52] so that

[00:37:52] the Native

[00:37:53] Americans

[00:37:54] couldn't

[00:37:54] tell how

[00:37:54] decimated

[00:37:55] their

[00:37:55] numbers

[00:37:56] were

[00:37:56] but to

[00:37:57] lose

[00:37:58] half

[00:37:58] of the

[00:37:58] wives

[00:37:59] that

[00:37:59] first

[00:38:00] winter

[00:38:00] because

[00:38:00] they

[00:38:01] really

[00:38:01] just

[00:38:02] didn't

[00:38:03] have

[00:38:03] enough

[00:38:04] to

[00:38:04] sustain

[00:38:04] themselves

[00:38:05] so they

[00:38:06] were in

[00:38:06] some

[00:38:06] really

[00:38:06] really

[00:38:07] tough

[00:38:07] times

[00:38:07] they knew

[00:38:08] what

[00:38:08] tough

[00:38:08] times

[00:38:09] were

[00:38:09] it

[00:38:09] wasn't

[00:38:09] like

[00:38:10] hey mom

[00:38:10] I'm

[00:38:10] hungry

[00:38:11] when's

[00:38:11] dinner

[00:38:11] starting

[00:38:11] you know

[00:38:12] you're

[00:38:13] going to

[00:38:13] hear that

[00:38:13] a lot

[00:38:13] I think

[00:38:14] on today's

[00:38:14] Thanksgiving

[00:38:15] dinner

[00:38:15] but they

[00:38:16] did not

[00:38:17] have

[00:38:18] anything

[00:38:19] to sustain

[00:38:20] them

[00:38:21] and as

[00:38:21] Sam

[00:38:22] mentions

[00:38:22] they

[00:38:22] had a

[00:38:23] bad

[00:38:24] economic

[00:38:24] system

[00:38:25] that

[00:38:25] they

[00:38:25] evolved

[00:38:25] to

[00:38:26] and it

[00:38:26] was not

[00:38:26] working

[00:38:27] for them

[00:38:27] well

[00:38:28] so

[00:38:29] they

[00:38:29] have

[00:38:30] this

[00:38:30] situation

[00:38:31] and

[00:38:33] they

[00:38:33] got

[00:38:33] down

[00:38:34] to

[00:38:34] a few

[00:38:34] grains

[00:38:35] of

[00:38:36] corn

[00:38:36] and

[00:38:37] corn

[00:38:37] what

[00:38:38] was

[00:38:38] corn

[00:38:38] I mean

[00:38:38] they

[00:38:38] called

[00:38:39] anything

[00:38:39] that

[00:38:39] was

[00:38:40] grain

[00:38:40] of

[00:38:40] corn

[00:38:40] so

[00:38:40] I

[00:38:40] don't

[00:38:41] know

[00:38:41] if

[00:38:41] it

[00:38:41] was

[00:38:41] actually

[00:38:42] popcorn

[00:38:42] or

[00:38:44] wheat

[00:38:44] or rye

[00:38:45] or barley

[00:38:46] whatever

[00:38:46] I don't

[00:38:46] know what

[00:38:47] the grains

[00:38:47] of corn

[00:38:48] were

[00:38:48] it

[00:38:48] may

[00:38:48] have

[00:38:48] actually

[00:38:49] been

[00:38:49] corn

[00:38:49] but

[00:38:49] they

[00:38:50] only

[00:38:50] had

[00:38:50] a few

[00:38:51] grains

[00:38:51] of

[00:38:51] corn

[00:38:52] to

[00:38:52] offer

[00:38:52] to

[00:38:53] each

[00:38:53] person

[00:38:54] each

[00:38:54] day

[00:38:54] and

[00:38:54] it

[00:38:55] was

[00:38:55] hungry

[00:38:55] it

[00:38:56] was

[00:38:56] hungry

[00:38:56] and

[00:38:57] what

[00:38:57] we've

[00:38:57] done

[00:38:58] for

[00:38:58] years

[00:38:58] and

[00:38:58] of course

[00:38:59] my

[00:38:59] kids

[00:38:59] are all

[00:39:00] grown

[00:39:00] now

[00:39:00] and

[00:39:02] they're

[00:39:02] off

[00:39:02] with

[00:39:03] their

[00:39:03] own

[00:39:03] kids

[00:39:03] and

[00:39:03] yada

[00:39:04] yada

[00:39:04] yada

[00:39:04] and

[00:39:04] everything

[00:39:04] like

[00:39:05] that

[00:39:05] so

[00:39:05] I

[00:39:05] don't

[00:39:05] think

[00:39:05] my

[00:39:17] but

[00:39:18] that's

[00:39:18] how

[00:39:18] rough

[00:39:19] it

[00:39:19] got

[00:39:19] and

[00:39:19] again

[00:39:20] lives

[00:39:20] were

[00:39:21] taken

[00:39:21] by

[00:39:22] just

[00:39:23] exposure

[00:39:23] cold

[00:39:24] hunger

[00:39:25] you know

[00:39:25] it

[00:39:26] was

[00:39:49] we

[00:39:49] had

[00:39:50] I guess

[00:39:51] I should

[00:39:51] say

[00:39:51] more

[00:39:52] appropriately

[00:39:52] because

[00:39:53] it's

[00:39:53] not so

[00:39:54] much

[00:39:54] today

[00:39:54] but

[00:39:55] we

[00:39:55] had

[00:39:55] a

[00:39:56] system

[00:39:56] that

[00:39:57] was

[00:39:57] a

[00:39:58] powerful

[00:39:58] engine

[00:39:59] for

[00:39:59] prosperity

[00:40:00] and

[00:40:01] all

[00:40:01] of

[00:40:01] the

[00:40:02] DEI

[00:40:03] kind

[00:40:03] of

[00:40:03] diversity

[00:40:04] equity

[00:40:05] inclusion

[00:40:05] hires

[00:40:06] and

[00:40:06] the

[00:40:07] idea

[00:40:08] that

[00:40:08] you

[00:40:08] don't

[00:40:09] need

[00:40:09] the

[00:40:09] best

[00:40:09] people

[00:40:10] to

[00:40:10] do

[00:40:10] the

[00:40:10] job

[00:40:10] people

[00:40:11] don't

[00:40:11] ever

[00:40:11] look

[00:40:11] for

[00:40:11] excellence

[00:40:12] all

[00:40:12] that

[00:40:12] kind

[00:40:12] of

[00:40:12] stuff

[00:40:13] we

[00:40:18] it's

[00:40:19] kind

[00:40:20] of

[00:40:20] a

[00:40:20] godless

[00:40:21] book

[00:40:21] it is

[00:40:21] a

[00:40:21] godless

[00:40:22] book

[00:40:22] Atlas

[00:40:23] Shrugged

[00:40:25] you

[00:40:25] look

[00:40:25] at

[00:40:26] what

[00:40:28] society

[00:40:28] had

[00:40:29] become

[00:40:29] in

[00:40:29] that

[00:40:30] book

[00:40:30] and

[00:40:30] I

[00:40:31] don't

[00:40:31] want

[00:40:31] to

[00:40:31] overhang

[00:40:32] the

[00:40:32] market

[00:40:32] too

[00:40:32] much

[00:40:33] or

[00:40:33] anything

[00:40:33] like

[00:40:33] that

[00:40:33] about

[00:40:34] how

[00:40:34] everybody

[00:40:35] was

[00:40:35] on

[00:40:35] the

[00:40:35] take

[00:40:36] nobody

[00:40:36] was

[00:40:36] looking

[00:40:36] for

[00:40:37] excellence

[00:40:37] nobody

[00:40:37] well

[00:40:38] I

[00:40:38] say

[00:40:38] that

[00:40:39] widely

[00:40:39] there

[00:40:40] were

[00:40:40] a

[00:40:40] few

[00:40:41] people

[00:40:41] that

[00:40:41] were

[00:40:42] looking

[00:40:42] to

[00:40:43] excel

[00:40:43] and

[00:40:44] while

[00:40:45] they

[00:40:45] did

[00:40:46] it

[00:40:46] differently

[00:40:46] perhaps

[00:40:46] than

[00:40:47] I

[00:41:09] often

[00:41:10] you

[00:41:10] got

[00:41:10] basically

[00:41:10] a

[00:41:11] godless

[00:41:11] education

[00:41:12] that

[00:41:12] will

[00:41:12] absolutely

[00:41:13] destroy

[00:41:13] your

[00:41:13] faith

[00:41:14] and

[00:41:14] hope

[00:41:14] and

[00:41:14] anything

[00:41:15] honorable

[00:41:15] and a

[00:41:16] good

[00:41:16] report

[00:41:16] and

[00:41:17] everything

[00:41:17] else

[00:41:17] if

[00:41:17] you're

[00:41:17] not

[00:41:17] very

[00:41:18] careful

[00:41:18] and

[00:41:18] it's

[00:41:18] dangerous

[00:41:19] and

[00:41:20] for

[00:41:20] Thanksgiving

[00:41:20] we need

[00:41:21] to remember

[00:41:21] these

[00:41:22] things

[00:41:22] we need

[00:41:23] to remember

[00:41:24] what is

[00:41:24] real

[00:41:25] education

[00:41:25] I think

[00:41:26] the

[00:41:26] Governor

[00:41:26] Bradford

[00:41:27] education

[00:41:27] is

[00:41:28] a

[00:41:28] thousand

[00:41:28] times

[00:41:29] more

[00:41:29] valuable

[00:41:30] that

[00:41:30] historical

[00:41:31] context

[00:41:31] that

[00:41:32] write-up

[00:41:32] of what

[00:41:32] they

[00:41:33] did

[00:41:33] that

[00:41:33] experiment

[00:41:34] the

[00:41:34] success

[00:41:34] of it

[00:41:35] and

[00:41:35] the

[00:41:35] beginnings

[00:41:36] of

[00:41:36] the

[00:41:36] greatest

[00:41:37] economic

[00:41:37] engine

[00:41:37] the

[00:41:37] world

[00:41:38] ever

[00:41:38] known

[00:41:38] brought

[00:41:39] into

[00:41:39] the

[00:41:39] greatest

[00:41:39] country

[00:41:40] ever

[00:41:40] known

[00:41:42] is

[00:41:42] that

[00:41:43] knowledge

[00:41:43] that

[00:41:44] understanding

[00:41:44] is ten

[00:41:45] times

[00:41:45] more

[00:41:46] valuable

[00:41:46] than

[00:41:46] any

[00:41:46] Yale

[00:41:47] or

[00:41:47] Harvard

[00:41:47] or

[00:41:47] any

[00:41:48] other

[00:41:48] education

[00:41:48] for

[00:41:48] that

[00:41:49] matter

[00:41:49] Stanford

[00:41:49] I

[00:41:49] can

[00:41:50] keep

[00:41:50] going

[00:41:50] right

[00:41:52] unquestionably

[00:41:53] and

[00:41:53] the fact

[00:41:54] of the

[00:41:54] matter

[00:41:54] is

[00:41:55] that

[00:41:55] what

[00:41:55] they've

[00:41:55] got

[00:41:55] is

[00:41:56] a

[00:41:56] DEI

[00:41:56] based

[00:41:57] kind

[00:41:57] of

[00:41:57] education

[00:41:58] system

[00:41:58] and

[00:41:59] without

[00:42:00] getting

[00:42:00] off

[00:42:00] on

[00:42:00] that

[00:42:01] too

[00:42:01] much

[00:42:01] you

[00:42:01] need

[00:42:01] to

[00:42:01] understand

[00:42:02] that

[00:42:02] the

[00:42:02] pilgrims

[00:42:03] did

[00:42:03] start

[00:42:04] with

[00:42:04] a

[00:42:05] primer

[00:42:06] kind

[00:42:06] of

[00:42:06] thing

[00:42:07] to

[00:42:07] teach

[00:42:07] kids

[00:42:07] how

[00:42:08] to

[00:42:08] read

[00:42:08] in

[00:42:09] their

[00:42:09] most

[00:42:09] rudimentary

[00:42:10] kind

[00:42:11] of

[00:42:24] okay

[00:42:24] right

[00:42:25] that's

[00:42:25] probably

[00:42:26] it

[00:42:26] but

[00:42:26] the

[00:42:26] fact

[00:42:27] of

[00:42:27] the

[00:42:27] matter

[00:42:27] is

[00:42:27] these

[00:42:28] things

[00:42:29] were

[00:42:30] tied

[00:42:31] to

[00:42:31] the

[00:42:31] scriptures

[00:42:31] so

[00:42:32] if

[00:42:32] absolutely

[00:42:34] they

[00:42:34] started

[00:42:35] Harvard

[00:42:36] I mean

[00:42:36] they

[00:42:36] started

[00:42:37] these

[00:42:37] Ivy League

[00:42:37] schools

[00:42:38] and

[00:42:38] they

[00:42:38] understood

[00:42:39] God

[00:42:39] family

[00:42:39] and

[00:42:40] country

[00:42:40] and

[00:42:40] that's

[00:42:41] what's

[00:42:41] slipping

[00:42:41] away

[00:42:41] in

[00:42:42] America

[00:42:42] today

[00:42:42] I've

[00:42:43] got

[00:42:43] a

[00:42:43] little

[00:42:43] tidbit

[00:42:44] from

[00:42:44] a

[00:42:45] talk

[00:42:45] show

[00:42:45] host

[00:42:47] Michael

[00:42:47] Medved

[00:42:47] and

[00:42:48] there's

[00:42:48] a

[00:42:48] video

[00:42:49] that

[00:42:49] he

[00:42:49] did

[00:42:50] over

[00:42:50] at

[00:42:50] PragerU

[00:42:51] PragerU.com

[00:42:52] they get

[00:42:52] the credit

[00:42:53] for this

[00:42:53] and

[00:42:54] the

[00:42:54] headline

[00:42:55] says

[00:42:55] what's

[00:42:55] the

[00:42:56] truth

[00:42:56] about

[00:42:57] the

[00:42:57] first

[00:42:57] Thanksgiving

[00:42:59] and

[00:43:00] it's

[00:43:00] very

[00:43:00] good

[00:43:00] it's

[00:43:01] about

[00:43:01] five

[00:43:01] minutes

[00:43:01] long

[00:43:02] I

[00:43:02] want

[00:43:02] to

[00:43:02] play

[00:43:02] it

[00:43:02] and

[00:43:03] when

[00:43:03] we

[00:43:03] get

[00:43:03] done

[00:43:03] I

[00:43:04] want

[00:43:04] to

[00:43:04] finish

[00:43:05] and

[00:43:05] talking

[00:43:05] about

[00:43:06] that

[00:43:06] we'll

[00:43:07] get

[00:43:07] Dr.

[00:43:07] Bradley's

[00:43:07] comments

[00:43:08] listen

[00:43:08] carefully

[00:43:09] here's

[00:43:09] Michael

[00:43:10] Medved

[00:43:12] food

[00:43:12] football

[00:43:13] and

[00:43:14] oppression

[00:43:15] that's

[00:43:16] what

[00:43:16] Thanksgiving

[00:43:16] has

[00:43:17] come

[00:43:17] to

[00:43:17] mean

[00:43:17] to

[00:43:17] many

[00:43:18] Americans

[00:43:18] back

[00:43:19] in

[00:43:19] 2007

[00:43:20] Seattle

[00:43:20] public

[00:43:21] school

[00:43:21] officials

[00:43:21] made

[00:43:22] national

[00:43:22] news

[00:43:23] by

[00:43:23] describing

[00:43:23] the

[00:43:23] holiday

[00:43:24] as

[00:43:24] a

[00:43:24] time

[00:43:25] of

[00:43:25] mourning

[00:43:26] and

[00:43:26] a

[00:43:27] bitter

[00:43:27] reminder

[00:43:28] of

[00:43:28] 500

[00:43:29] years

[00:43:29] of

[00:43:35] persecution

[00:43:35] only

[00:43:36] to

[00:43:36] become

[00:43:36] persecutors

[00:43:37] themselves

[00:43:38] depriving

[00:43:39] Native

[00:43:39] Americans

[00:43:39] of

[00:43:40] their

[00:43:40] land

[00:43:40] and

[00:43:41] their

[00:43:41] lives

[00:43:41] but

[00:43:42] this

[00:43:43] is

[00:43:43] wrong

[00:43:43] on

[00:43:44] every

[00:43:44] count

[00:43:45] first

[00:43:45] of

[00:43:45] all

[00:43:45] the

[00:43:46] pilgrims

[00:43:46] didn't

[00:43:46] cross

[00:43:46] the

[00:43:47] ocean

[00:43:47] to

[00:43:47] flee

[00:43:47] persecution

[00:43:48] or

[00:43:48] even

[00:43:49] England

[00:43:49] they'd

[00:43:50] been

[00:43:50] living

[00:43:50] for

[00:43:50] over

[00:43:51] a

[00:43:51] decade

[00:43:51] in

[00:43:51] Holland

[00:43:52] Europe's

[00:43:52] most

[00:43:53] tolerant

[00:43:53] nation

[00:43:53] and

[00:43:54] a

[00:43:54] haven

[00:43:54] for

[00:43:55] religious

[00:43:55] dissenters

[00:43:55] free

[00:43:56] from

[00:43:56] interference

[00:43:57] by

[00:43:57] the

[00:43:57] Church

[00:43:57] of

[00:43:57] England

[00:43:58] they

[00:43:58] feared

[00:43:59] seduction

[00:43:59] not

[00:44:00] persecution

[00:44:01] worrying

[00:44:01] that

[00:44:02] their

[00:44:02] children

[00:44:02] would

[00:44:02] be

[00:44:03] corrupted

[00:44:03] by

[00:44:03] the

[00:44:04] materialistic

[00:44:04] Dutch

[00:44:05] culture

[00:44:05] that's

[00:44:06] why

[00:44:06] they

[00:44:06] risked

[00:44:06] their

[00:44:07] dangerous

[00:44:07] 1620

[00:44:08] voyage

[00:44:08] to

[00:44:08] a

[00:44:08] wilderness

[00:44:09] continent

[00:44:09] not

[00:44:10] because

[00:44:10] they

[00:44:10] were

[00:44:10] running

[00:44:11] from

[00:44:11] oppression

[00:44:12] but

[00:44:12] because

[00:44:13] they

[00:44:13] were

[00:44:13] running

[00:44:13] toward

[00:44:14] holiness

[00:44:14] fulfilling

[00:44:15] a

[00:44:15] fateful

[00:44:16] mission

[00:44:16] to

[00:44:17] build

[00:44:17] an

[00:44:17] ideal

[00:44:18] Christian

[00:44:19] commonwealth

[00:44:20] they

[00:44:20] initially

[00:44:21] planned

[00:44:21] to plant

[00:44:21] this

[00:44:22] model

[00:44:22] society

[00:44:22] on

[00:44:22] the

[00:44:23] wild

[00:44:23] wolf

[00:44:23] infested

[00:44:24] island

[00:44:24] known

[00:44:25] to

[00:44:25] natives

[00:44:26] as

[00:44:26] Manhattan

[00:44:27] but

[00:44:27] winds

[00:44:28] and

[00:44:28] tides

[00:44:29] blew

[00:44:29] them

[00:44:29] 250

[00:44:30] miles

[00:44:31] off

[00:44:31] course

[00:44:31] dumping

[00:44:32] the

[00:44:32] Mayflower

[00:44:33] on

[00:44:33] the

[00:44:33] frozen

[00:44:34] coast

[00:44:34] of

[00:44:34] Massachusetts

[00:44:35] somehow

[00:44:36] the

[00:44:36] pilgrims

[00:44:37] saw

[00:44:37] their

[00:44:37] dire

[00:44:38] situation

[00:44:38] as

[00:44:38] a

[00:44:39] demonstration

[00:44:39] of

[00:44:40] providential

[00:44:40] power

[00:44:41] especially

[00:44:42] after

[00:44:42] a giant

[00:44:43] wave

[00:44:43] picked

[00:44:44] up

[00:44:44] the

[00:44:44] flimsy

[00:44:44] boat

[00:44:45] of a

[00:44:45] scouting

[00:44:45] party

[00:44:46] on

[00:44:46] a

[00:44:46] stormy

[00:44:47] December

[00:44:47] night

[00:44:47] the

[00:44:48] turbulent

[00:44:48] sea

[00:44:49] then

[00:44:49] deposited

[00:44:50] them

[00:44:50] safely

[00:44:50] miraculously

[00:44:51] on

[00:44:52] a little

[00:44:52] island

[00:44:52] within

[00:44:53] sight

[00:44:53] of

[00:44:54] the

[00:44:54] ideal

[00:44:54] location

[00:44:55] for

[00:44:55] their

[00:44:55] settlement

[00:44:56] it

[00:44:56] was

[00:44:57] a

[00:44:57] deserted

[00:44:57] Indian

[00:44:57] village

[00:44:58] with

[00:44:58] cleared

[00:44:58] land

[00:44:59] stored

[00:44:59] supplies

[00:45:00] of

[00:45:00] corn

[00:45:00] and

[00:45:01] a

[00:45:01] reliable

[00:45:02] source

[00:45:02] of

[00:45:02] fresh

[00:45:02] water

[00:45:03] no

[00:45:04] these

[00:45:04] supposedly

[00:45:04] cruel

[00:45:05] conquerors

[00:45:06] never

[00:45:06] actually

[00:45:06] invaded

[00:45:07] that

[00:45:07] village

[00:45:08] instead

[00:45:08] they

[00:45:09] expressed

[00:45:09] a fervent

[00:45:10] desire

[00:45:10] to pay

[00:45:10] the natives

[00:45:11] for the

[00:45:11] dried

[00:45:11] corn

[00:45:12] they found

[00:45:12] if only

[00:45:13] they could

[00:45:14] find

[00:45:14] someone

[00:45:14] to

[00:45:14] pay

[00:45:15] but

[00:45:16] the

[00:45:16] former

[00:45:16] inhabitants

[00:45:16] had

[00:45:17] perished

[00:45:17] during

[00:45:17] three years

[00:45:18] of

[00:45:18] plague

[00:45:18] probably

[00:45:19] smallpox

[00:45:20] that

[00:45:20] immediately

[00:45:21] preceded

[00:45:21] the

[00:45:22] pilgrim's

[00:45:22] arrival

[00:45:23] one

[00:45:23] of

[00:45:23] the

[00:45:23] few

[00:45:24] survivors

[00:45:24] of

[00:45:24] that

[00:45:25] devastation

[00:45:25] turned

[00:45:25] up

[00:45:26] several

[00:45:26] months

[00:45:26] later

[00:45:27] to

[00:45:27] welcome

[00:45:27] the

[00:45:28] English

[00:45:28] newcomers

[00:45:29] against

[00:45:30] all odds

[00:45:30] he

[00:45:31] proved

[00:45:31] to be

[00:45:31] the

[00:45:32] single

[00:45:32] human

[00:45:32] being

[00:45:33] on

[00:45:33] the

[00:45:33] continent

[00:45:34] best

[00:45:34] suited

[00:45:35] to

[00:45:35] help

[00:45:35] the

[00:45:35] struggling

[00:45:35] settlers

[00:45:36] since

[00:45:36] he

[00:45:37] spoke

[00:45:37] English

[00:45:37] and

[00:45:38] had

[00:45:38] already

[00:45:38] embraced

[00:45:39] Christianity

[00:45:39] his

[00:45:40] name

[00:45:41] was

[00:45:41] Squanto

[00:45:41] and

[00:45:42] he

[00:45:42] had

[00:45:42] grown

[00:45:42] up

[00:45:42] in

[00:45:42] this

[00:45:43] very

[00:45:43] village

[00:45:43] before

[00:45:44] a

[00:45:44] ruthless

[00:45:45] sea

[00:45:45] captain

[00:45:45] kidnapped

[00:45:45] him

[00:45:46] as

[00:45:46] a

[00:45:46] boy

[00:45:46] and

[00:45:47] sold

[00:45:47] him

[00:45:47] into

[00:45:47] slavery

[00:45:48] in

[00:45:48] Spain

[00:45:48] after

[00:45:49] four

[00:45:50] years

[00:45:50] he

[00:45:50] was

[00:45:50] freed

[00:45:51] by

[00:45:51] kindly

[00:45:51] monks

[00:45:52] then

[00:45:52] made

[00:45:52] his

[00:45:52] way

[00:45:52] to

[00:45:52] England

[00:45:53] and

[00:45:53] finally

[00:45:54] sailed

[00:45:54] across

[00:45:54] the

[00:45:55] Atlantic

[00:45:55] only

[00:45:56] to

[00:45:56] find

[00:45:56] his

[00:45:57] friends

[00:45:57] and

[00:45:57] family

[00:45:58] all

[00:45:58] wiped

[00:45:59] out

[00:45:59] by

[00:45:59] disease

[00:46:00] over

[00:46:01] the

[00:46:01] next

[00:46:01] few

[00:46:01] months

[00:46:02] Squanto

[00:46:02] helped

[00:46:02] the

[00:46:03] English

[00:46:03] newcomers

[00:46:03] plant

[00:46:04] crops

[00:46:04] and

[00:46:05] negotiate

[00:46:05] a

[00:46:05] friendly

[00:46:06] trade

[00:46:06] agreement

[00:46:06] with

[00:46:07] the

[00:46:07] region's

[00:46:07] most

[00:46:07] important

[00:46:08] chief

[00:46:08] Massasoyed

[00:46:15] scent of

[00:46:15] God

[00:46:15] for

[00:46:16] their

[00:46:16] good

[00:46:17] the

[00:46:18] celebration

[00:46:18] later

[00:46:19] known as

[00:46:19] the

[00:46:20] first

[00:46:20] Thanksgiving

[00:46:20] actually

[00:46:21] involved

[00:46:22] a

[00:46:22] three-day

[00:46:23] harvest

[00:46:23] festival

[00:46:23] in

[00:46:24] October

[00:46:24] apparently

[00:46:25] inspired

[00:46:25] by the

[00:46:26] biblical

[00:46:26] holiday

[00:46:26] of

[00:46:27] Sukkot

[00:46:27] or

[00:46:27] the

[00:46:28] feast

[00:46:28] of

[00:46:28] tabernacles

[00:46:29] 90

[00:46:30] hungry

[00:46:30] Indian

[00:46:31] warriors

[00:46:31] joined

[00:46:32] the 53

[00:46:32] surviving

[00:46:33] pilgrims

[00:46:33] for

[00:46:34] this

[00:46:34] occasion

[00:46:34] nearly

[00:46:35] half

[00:46:35] of

[00:46:35] the

[00:46:35] colonists

[00:46:36] had

[00:46:36] died

[00:46:36] during

[00:46:36] the

[00:46:37] brutal

[00:46:37] winter

[00:46:37] the

[00:46:38] Englishman

[00:46:39] provided

[00:46:39] some

[00:46:39] vegetables

[00:46:40] fish

[00:46:41] and

[00:46:41] perhaps

[00:46:41] wild

[00:46:42] turkeys

[00:46:42] while

[00:46:43] the

[00:46:43] natives

[00:46:43] brought

[00:46:44] five

[00:46:44] recently

[00:46:45] hunted

[00:46:45] deer

[00:46:45] as

[00:46:46] house

[00:46:46] gifts

[00:46:46] the

[00:46:47] preferred

[00:46:47] sport

[00:46:48] on this

[00:46:48] occasion

[00:46:49] wasn't

[00:46:49] football

[00:46:49] but

[00:46:50] shooting

[00:46:51] with

[00:46:51] settlers

[00:46:52] and

[00:46:52] Indians

[00:46:52] sharing

[00:46:52] a

[00:46:53] fierce

[00:46:53] fascination

[00:46:53] with

[00:46:54] guns

[00:46:54] though

[00:46:55] these

[00:46:55] hardy

[00:46:56] pilgrims

[00:46:56] loom

[00:46:57] large

[00:46:57] in

[00:46:57] the

[00:46:57] American

[00:46:58] imagination

[00:46:58] they

[00:46:59] never

[00:46:59] built

[00:47:00] their

[00:47:00] Plymouth

[00:47:00] settlement

[00:47:00] into

[00:47:01] a

[00:47:01] major

[00:47:01] colony

[00:47:02] in

[00:47:02] nearby

[00:47:03] Boston

[00:47:03] the

[00:47:03] later

[00:47:04] colony

[00:47:04] of

[00:47:04] Massachusetts

[00:47:05] Bay

[00:47:05] grew

[00:47:05] so much

[00:47:06] faster

[00:47:13] left

[00:47:14] a

[00:47:14] permanent

[00:47:14] imprint

[00:47:15] on the

[00:47:15] national

[00:47:15] character

[00:47:16] they

[00:47:17] maintained

[00:47:17] unshakable

[00:47:18] confidence

[00:47:18] that God

[00:47:19] protected

[00:47:20] them

[00:47:20] not to

[00:47:21] grant

[00:47:21] special

[00:47:21] privileges

[00:47:22] but to

[00:47:23] impose

[00:47:23] special

[00:47:24] responsibilities

[00:47:25] they saw

[00:47:26] themselves

[00:47:26] as

[00:47:27] instruments

[00:47:27] not

[00:47:28] authors

[00:47:29] of a

[00:47:29] mysterious

[00:47:30] master plan

[00:47:31] today

[00:47:32] with our

[00:47:32] continued

[00:47:33] blessings

[00:47:33] so obvious

[00:47:34] and so

[00:47:35] overwhelming

[00:47:36] the only

[00:47:37] reason to

[00:47:37] treat this

[00:47:38] beloved

[00:47:38] national

[00:47:39] holiday

[00:47:39] as

[00:47:39] a

[00:47:40] time

[00:47:40] of

[00:47:41] mourning

[00:47:41] is

[00:47:42] that

[00:47:42] some

[00:47:42] foolish

[00:47:42] Americans

[00:47:43] actually

[00:47:43] think

[00:47:43] that's

[00:47:44] a

[00:47:44] good

[00:47:44] idea

[00:47:44] the

[00:47:45] pilgrims

[00:47:46] knew

[00:47:46] better

[00:47:46] they

[00:47:47] understood

[00:47:47] that

[00:47:47] people

[00:47:48] of

[00:47:48] every

[00:47:48] culture

[00:47:49] and

[00:47:49] every

[00:47:49] era

[00:47:50] can

[00:47:50] gain

[00:47:51] more

[00:47:51] from

[00:47:51] gratitude

[00:47:52] than

[00:47:53] from

[00:47:53] guilt

[00:47:53] I'm

[00:47:54] Michael

[00:47:55] Medved

[00:47:55] for

[00:47:55] Prager

[00:47:55] University

[00:47:57] Dr.

[00:47:58] Bradley

[00:47:59] there

[00:47:59] it

[00:47:59] is

[00:47:59] Michael

[00:48:00] Medved's

[00:48:00] take

[00:48:01] on

[00:48:01] the

[00:48:01] early

[00:48:01] pilgrims

[00:48:02] your

[00:48:02] thoughts

[00:48:04] well

[00:48:05] he

[00:48:05] touched

[00:48:05] on

[00:48:05] several

[00:48:06] of the

[00:48:07] things

[00:48:07] that I

[00:48:07] had

[00:48:08] mentioned

[00:48:08] briefly

[00:48:09] and

[00:48:10] I

[00:48:10] think

[00:48:11] it

[00:48:11] could

[00:48:11] be

[00:48:11] expanded

[00:48:12] dramatically

[00:48:12] in

[00:48:13] many

[00:48:14] areas

[00:48:14] but

[00:48:15] the

[00:48:15] fact

[00:48:15] of

[00:48:15] the

[00:48:15] matter

[00:48:15] is

[00:48:16] modern

[00:48:16] times

[00:48:17] you

[00:48:17] gotta

[00:48:17] have

[00:48:17] a

[00:48:17] short

[00:48:17] video

[00:48:18] or

[00:48:18] nobody

[00:48:18] can

[00:48:18] handle

[00:48:19] it

[00:48:19] yeah

[00:48:19] well

[00:48:20] you

[00:48:20] know

[00:48:20] me

[00:48:20] make

[00:48:21] a

[00:48:21] short

[00:48:22] story

[00:48:23] longer

[00:48:24] I

[00:48:24] will

[00:48:24] but

[00:48:25] the

[00:48:26] fact

[00:48:26] of

[00:48:26] the

[00:48:26] matter

[00:48:26] is

[00:48:27] that

[00:48:27] we

[00:48:28] should

[00:48:28] be

[00:48:29] a

[00:48:29] gratitude

[00:48:29] filled

[00:48:30] people

[00:48:31] and

[00:48:32] the

[00:48:32] hard

[00:48:32] times

[00:48:35] that

[00:48:39] we

[00:48:39] fold

[00:48:40] because

[00:48:40] somebody

[00:48:41] hurt

[00:48:41] our

[00:48:42] feelings

[00:48:42] with

[00:48:43] some

[00:48:44] kind

[00:48:44] of

[00:48:44] comment

[00:48:45] about

[00:48:45] our

[00:48:46] pronouns

[00:48:47] or

[00:48:47] some

[00:48:47] idiot

[00:48:48] thing

[00:48:48] I

[00:48:49] mean

[00:48:49] people

[00:48:50] today

[00:48:51] are

[00:48:51] just

[00:48:52] fragile

[00:48:54] snowflakes

[00:48:54] that melt

[00:48:55] with the

[00:48:56] slightest

[00:48:57] heat

[00:48:57] and

[00:48:59] I

[00:49:00] guess

[00:49:01] we need

[00:49:02] to grow

[00:49:02] a little

[00:49:03] more

[00:49:03] backbone

[00:49:03] here's

[00:49:04] the deal

[00:49:04] there's

[00:49:06] no more

[00:49:06] oceans

[00:49:06] to cross

[00:49:07] kids

[00:49:07] I

[00:49:08] mean

[00:49:08] and

[00:49:09] there

[00:49:10] was

[00:49:10] the

[00:49:11] reason

[00:49:11] they

[00:49:11] were

[00:49:11] in

[00:49:12] Holland

[00:49:12] was

[00:49:12] because

[00:49:12] of

[00:49:13] religious

[00:49:13] intolerance

[00:49:14] in

[00:49:14] England

[00:49:14] I

[00:49:14] mean

[00:49:15] that's

[00:49:15] left

[00:49:15] off

[00:49:15] of

[00:49:15] the

[00:49:16] story

[00:49:17] and

[00:49:17] there's

[00:49:18] concerns

[00:49:18] about

[00:49:19] being

[00:49:19] assimilated

[00:49:19] into

[00:49:20] that

[00:49:20] cultural

[00:49:21] society

[00:49:21] it

[00:49:21] was

[00:49:22] a

[00:49:22] safe

[00:49:22] haven

[00:49:22] from

[00:49:23] England

[00:49:23] right

[00:49:24] exactly

[00:49:24] but

[00:49:25] that's

[00:49:26] why

[00:49:26] they

[00:49:26] left

[00:49:27] England

[00:49:27] I

[00:49:28] mean

[00:49:29] all

[00:49:29] of

[00:49:30] the

[00:49:30] King

[00:49:30] James

[00:49:30] nonsense

[00:49:31] about

[00:49:31] the

[00:49:31] King

[00:49:32] James

[00:49:32] Bible

[00:49:32] being

[00:49:33] the

[00:49:33] you

[00:49:33] know

[00:49:33] I

[00:49:34] mean

[00:49:34] King

[00:49:34] James

[00:49:35] was

[00:49:35] a

[00:49:35] tyrant

[00:49:35] but

[00:49:36] but

[00:49:36] at

[00:49:36] any

[00:49:36] rate

[00:49:36] that's

[00:49:36] another

[00:49:37] story

[00:49:37] but

[00:49:38] the

[00:49:38] fact

[00:49:38] of

[00:49:38] the

[00:49:38] matter

[00:49:38] is

[00:49:39] that

[00:49:39] these

[00:49:40] people

[00:49:41] all

[00:49:42] through

[00:49:42] Europe

[00:49:43] I

[00:49:43] mean

[00:49:43] for

[00:49:44] centuries

[00:49:44] literally

[00:49:45] have been

[00:49:45] oppressed

[00:49:46] by different

[00:49:47] forms

[00:49:47] of

[00:49:48] of

[00:49:48] religious

[00:49:49] oppression

[00:49:50] you know

[00:49:51] there

[00:49:51] were all

[00:49:52] sorts

[00:49:52] of

[00:49:55] I

[00:49:58] continued

[00:49:58] in

[00:49:58] Spain

[00:49:59] these

[00:49:59] inquisitions

[00:50:00] were

[00:50:00] horrific

[00:50:01] and

[00:50:02] I

[00:50:02] I've

[00:50:03] got

[00:50:03] a

[00:50:03] number

[00:50:03] of

[00:50:03] presentations

[00:50:19] I

[00:50:29] and

[00:50:29] the

[00:50:30] pilgrim

[00:50:30] Puritans

[00:50:31] I

[00:50:31] mean

[00:50:32] the

[00:50:32] Puritans

[00:50:32] followed

[00:50:33] on

[00:50:33] and

[00:50:34] brought

[00:50:34] literally

[00:50:35] tens of

[00:50:36] thousands

[00:50:36] of

[00:50:36] people

[00:50:36] to

[00:50:36] this

[00:50:37] land

[00:50:37] again

[00:50:37] to

[00:50:38] escape

[00:50:38] religious

[00:50:39] persecution

[00:50:39] but

[00:50:40] the

[00:50:41] fact

[00:50:41] is

[00:50:41] that

[00:50:42] these

[00:50:42] people

[00:50:42] as

[00:50:43] I

[00:50:43] mentioned

[00:50:43] came

[00:50:43] in

[00:50:43] these

[00:50:43] little

[00:50:44] wooden

[00:50:44] boats

[00:50:44] and

[00:50:45] they

[00:50:46] settled

[00:50:46] a

[00:50:47] wilderness

[00:50:47] in

[00:50:48] a

[00:50:48] land

[00:50:48] that

[00:50:49] was

[00:50:49] harsh

[00:50:49] and

[00:50:50] difficult

[00:50:50] and

[00:50:50] challenging

[00:50:51] and

[00:50:52] we

[00:50:53] don't

[00:50:53] have

[00:50:53] that

[00:50:53] opportunity

[00:50:54] anymore

[00:50:54] and

[00:50:55] in

[00:50:55] fact

[00:50:55] I

[00:50:55] think

[00:50:55] most

[00:50:56] of

[00:50:56] would

[00:50:56] fold

[00:50:56] if

[00:50:57] we

[00:50:57] did

[00:50:58] but

[00:50:58] they

[00:50:59] would

[00:51:00] rather

[00:51:00] die

[00:51:01] than

[00:51:02] live

[00:51:02] under

[00:51:03] tyranny

[00:51:03] and

[00:51:04] here

[00:51:04] we

[00:51:04] are

[00:51:05] in

[00:51:05] America

[00:51:05] is

[00:51:05] the

[00:51:06] same

[00:51:06] it

[00:51:06] may

[00:51:06] not

[00:51:06] be

[00:51:07] as

[00:51:07] physical

[00:51:07] as

[00:51:08] theirs

[00:51:08] but

[00:51:08] fundamentally

[00:51:09] and

[00:51:09] morally

[00:51:10] and

[00:51:10] mind

[00:51:11] over

[00:51:11] matter

[00:51:12] and

[00:51:12] everything

[00:51:12] else

[00:51:13] the

[00:51:14] way

[00:51:14] was

[00:51:15] pointed

[00:51:15] to

[00:51:15] clearly

[00:51:16] and

[00:51:16] directly

[00:51:16] by

[00:51:17] our

[00:51:18] founders

[00:51:18] and

[00:51:18] our

[00:51:18] visionaries

[00:51:19] which

[00:51:19] is

[00:51:20] look

[00:51:20] to

[00:51:20] God

[00:51:20] not

[00:51:21] government

[00:51:21] and

[00:51:22] as

[00:51:22] George

[00:51:23] Washington

[00:51:23] wisely

[00:51:24] said

[00:51:25] in his

[00:51:25] Thanksgiving

[00:51:25] proclamation

[00:51:27] ladies

[00:51:27] and gentlemen

[00:51:28] we've

[00:51:29] got

[00:51:29] to

[00:51:29] understand

[00:51:31] it

[00:51:32] needs

[00:51:32] to

[00:51:32] be

[00:51:32] a

[00:51:32] day

[00:51:33] we

[00:51:33] need

[00:51:33] more

[00:51:33] than

[00:51:34] a

[00:51:34] day

[00:51:34] we

[00:51:34] need

[00:51:34] public

[00:51:35] thanksgiving

[00:51:35] and

[00:51:36] prayer

[00:51:36] to

[00:51:36] be

[00:51:37] observed

[00:51:37] by

[00:51:38] acknowledging

[00:51:38] with

[00:51:38] grateful

[00:51:39] hearts

[00:51:39] the

[00:51:39] many

[00:51:40] signal

[00:51:41] favors

[00:51:42] almighty

[00:51:42] god

[00:51:43] has

[00:51:43] bestowed

[00:51:43] upon

[00:51:43] us

[00:51:44] we

[00:51:44] have

[00:51:45] got

[00:51:45] to

[00:51:45] really

[00:51:46] understand

[00:51:46] and

[00:51:47] focus

[00:51:47] on

[00:51:48] those

[00:51:49] things

[00:51:50] it's

[00:51:51] the

[00:51:51] duty

[00:51:51] of

[00:51:51] all

[00:51:51] nations

[00:51:53] to

[00:51:53] acknowledge

[00:51:54] the

[00:51:54] providence

[00:51:55] of almighty

[00:51:55] god

[00:51:56] to

[00:51:57] obey

[00:51:57] his

[00:51:58] will

[00:51:58] that's

[00:51:58] what

[00:51:58] we

[00:51:58] need

[00:51:59] to

[00:51:59] get

[00:51:59] on

[00:51:59] our

[00:51:59] knees

[00:51:59] and

[00:51:59] repent

[00:52:00] we're

[00:52:00] not

[00:52:00] obeying

[00:52:00] his

[00:52:01] will

[00:52:01] we've

[00:52:01] got

[00:52:01] to

[00:52:01] change

[00:52:02] and

[00:52:02] do

[00:52:02] that

[00:52:02] we

[00:52:03] need

[00:52:03] to

[00:52:03] be

[00:52:03] grateful

[00:52:04] for

[00:52:04] his

[00:52:04] benefits

[00:52:05] and

[00:52:06] we

[00:52:06] be

[00:52:06] humble

[00:52:07] in

[00:52:07] our

[00:52:07] imploring

[00:52:08] his

[00:52:09] attention

[00:52:09] and

[00:52:10] favor

[00:52:10] upon

[00:52:11] us

[00:52:11] folks

[00:52:11] and

[00:52:12] then

[00:52:12] it

[00:52:12] says

[00:52:12] whereas

[00:52:13] both

[00:52:13] houses

[00:52:14] asked

[00:52:14] the

[00:52:14] president

[00:52:14] to

[00:52:14] do

[00:52:15] that

[00:52:15] we

[00:52:15] need

[00:52:15] both

[00:52:15] houses

[00:52:16] in

[00:52:16] America

[00:52:16] you

[00:52:17] know

[00:52:17] congress

[00:52:18] and

[00:52:18] senate

[00:52:18] to

[00:52:18] request

[00:52:19] that

[00:52:19] our

[00:52:20] president

[00:52:20] recommended

[00:52:21] the

[00:52:21] people

[00:52:22] of

[00:52:22] the

[00:52:22] United

[00:52:23] States

[00:52:23] a

[00:52:24] day

[00:52:24] of

[00:52:25] public

[00:52:25] thanksgiving

[00:52:26] and

[00:52:26] prayer

[00:52:26] to

[00:52:27] be

[00:52:27] observed

[00:52:28] by

[00:52:28] all

[00:52:29] of

[00:52:29] us

[00:52:30] with

[00:52:30] grateful

[00:52:30] hearts

[00:52:31] okay

[00:52:32] we

[00:52:32] need

[00:52:32] to

[00:52:32] be

[00:52:32] grateful

[00:52:33] for

[00:52:33] the

[00:52:33] many

[00:52:33] signaled

[00:52:33] favors

[00:52:34] God

[00:52:34] the

[00:52:35] almighty

[00:52:35] has

[00:52:35] bestowed

[00:52:36] upon

[00:52:36] us

[00:52:36] okay

[00:52:38] and

[00:52:38] then

[00:52:38] we

[00:52:38] need

[00:52:38] to

[00:52:38] basically

[00:52:39] take

[00:52:39] action

[00:52:39] and

[00:52:40] live

[00:52:40] according

[00:52:40] to

[00:52:40] God's

[00:52:41] commandments

[00:52:41] if

[00:52:42] we

[00:52:42] want

[00:52:42] his

[00:52:42] blessings

[00:52:42] it's

[00:52:43] up

[00:52:43] to

[00:52:44] us

[00:52:44] to

[00:52:44] say

[00:52:44] look

[00:52:44] we

[00:52:45] are

[00:52:45] going

[00:52:45] to

[00:52:45] obey

[00:52:45] the

[00:52:45] author

[00:52:46] of

[00:52:46] liberty

[00:52:46] and

[00:52:47] many

[00:52:47] people

[00:52:47] say

[00:52:47] well

[00:52:48] I'm

[00:52:48] not

[00:52:48] religious

[00:52:48] Sam

[00:52:49] or

[00:52:49] I'm

[00:52:49] not

[00:52:49] this

[00:52:49] I'm

[00:52:49] not

[00:52:49] say

[00:52:50] what

[00:52:50] you

[00:53:14] core

[00:53:14] about

[00:53:14] this

[00:53:15] but

[00:53:15] there's

[00:53:15] no

[00:53:16] other

[00:53:16] way

[00:53:16] to

[00:53:16] tell

[00:53:16] the

[00:53:16] tale

[00:53:16] of

[00:53:17] truth

[00:53:18] we

[00:53:19] live

[00:53:19] in

[00:53:19] a

[00:53:19] promised

[00:53:19] land

[00:53:20] and

[00:53:20] the

[00:53:20] founding

[00:53:21] fathers

[00:53:21] looked

[00:53:21] at

[00:53:22] that

[00:53:23] we

[00:53:23] were

[00:53:23] looked

[00:53:23] at

[00:53:24] as

[00:53:24] a

[00:53:24] modern

[00:53:24] day

[00:53:24] Israel

[00:53:25] as

[00:53:25] in

[00:53:25] Moses

[00:53:26] brought

[00:53:26] the

[00:53:27] people

[00:53:27] out

[00:53:27] of

[00:53:28] bondage

[00:53:28] in

[00:53:29] Egypt

[00:53:29] and

[00:53:29] literally

[00:53:31] a

[00:53:32] promised

[00:53:32] land

[00:53:33] comes

[00:53:33] with

[00:53:33] responsibilities

[00:53:34] and

[00:53:36] we've

[00:53:36] abdicated

[00:53:37] a lot

[00:53:37] of those

[00:53:37] responsibilities

[00:53:38] today

[00:53:39] and

[00:53:39] we've

[00:53:40] forgotten

[00:53:40] them

[00:53:40] and

[00:53:40] you know

[00:53:41] a day

[00:53:42] of

[00:53:42] Thanksgiving

[00:53:42] is a

[00:53:43] day

[00:53:43] of

[00:53:43] gluttony

[00:53:44] a day

[00:53:44] of

[00:53:44] laying

[00:53:45] around

[00:53:46] and

[00:53:46] watching

[00:53:46] football

[00:53:47] games

[00:53:47] where

[00:53:47] other

[00:53:47] people

[00:53:49] exercise

[00:53:49] their

[00:53:50] natural

[00:53:50] talents

[00:53:50] and

[00:53:50] skills

[00:53:51] hopefully

[00:53:52] will

[00:53:52] turn

[00:53:52] our

[00:53:52] heart

[00:53:53] to

[00:53:53] God

[00:53:53] on

[00:53:53] this

[00:53:53] day

[00:53:53] and

[00:53:54] from

[00:53:54] here

[00:53:55] after

[00:53:55] also

[00:53:57] we will

[00:53:58] be live

[00:53:59] on

[00:53:59] small

[00:53:59] business

[00:53:59] Saturday

[00:54:00] as well

[00:54:01] by the

[00:54:01] way

[00:54:01] ladies

[00:54:01] and

[00:54:01] gentlemen

[00:54:02] coming

[00:54:02] up

[00:54:02] the

[00:54:03] day

[00:54:04] after

[00:54:04] tomorrow

[00:54:04] so

[00:54:04] count

[00:54:05] on

[00:54:05] that

[00:54:05] as

[00:54:05] well

[00:54:05] we've

[00:54:06] got

[00:54:06] a lot

[00:54:06] to

[00:54:06] cover

[00:54:06] some

[00:54:07] great

[00:54:07] stuff

[00:54:07] thanks

[00:54:08] for being

[00:54:08] alongside

[00:54:08] for the

[00:54:09] ride

[00:54:09] ladies

[00:54:09] and

[00:54:09] gentlemen

[00:54:10] hopefully

[00:54:10] the

[00:54:10] broadcast

[00:54:11] was

[00:54:11] educational

[00:54:13] and

[00:54:14] entertaining

[00:54:15] there's

[00:54:16] a lot

[00:54:16] going on

[00:54:17] in the

[00:54:17] country

[00:54:17] today

[00:54:18] don't

[00:54:18] get

[00:54:20] sideline

[00:54:20] focus

[00:54:21] on the
