[00:00:13] Broadcasting live from atop the Rocky Mountains, the crossroads of the West, you are listening to the Liberty Roundtable Radio Talk Show. All right. Happy to have you along, my fellow Americans. Sam Bushman live on your radio. Hard-hitting news the network refused to use, no doubt. Starts now. This, my fellow Americans, is the broadcast for February the 20th in the year of our Lord 2025.
[00:00:40] This is Hour 1 of 2 and the goal always to protect life, liberty, and property to promote God, family, and country. We do so using the supreme law, the land, and the Constitution for the United States of America. The checks and balances are absolutely brilliant and one of the peaceful, restorative solutions we still have at our fingertips. As you know, we reject revolution unless it's Jesus' revolution. Then we're in because we follow the Prince of Peace. Welcome to the broadcast. Hope you're all doing absolutely fantastic. Fantastic.
[00:01:07] Yesterday, we had on our buddy James Edwards, the political assess pool.org, doing a phenomenal job, as always. We talked about who's in charge of Doge. Answer, the President of the United States of America. And I don't know if you know about this surprise, ladies and gentlemen, but Doge was not created under Donald Trump. It's not true. It's not new. It's actually a government agency created by the Democrat President Barack Hussein Obama. Yeah. What is Doge exactly, you might ask?
[00:01:38] Well, Trump didn't create a new cabinet-level department. It was called the United States Digital Service under Barack Obama. It was just repurposed by Donald. What do you think of that? Did you know that? Yeah. Now Doge finds that the Treasury spent up to $4.7 billion. You heard me, $4.7 billion in what they call untraceable payments. What that means is the money was stolen.
[00:02:09] Whose head is going to roll for that one, figuratively, right? There are no good—I mean, there are plenty of good reasons, I would say, for Doge to audit the Fed. They claim they're going to. Good for some senators, Rand Paul and a few others are saying, hey, we've got to look into this. Boy, are they right about that. The Department of Government Efficiency, they say, has saved $55 billion already. And they say they're just getting started. Amen to that.
[00:02:39] I pray that's true. Now, as Doge continues, one employee got access to some of the Social Security information, IRS information. And all the Democrats are freaking out about this one person getting access in Doge. But we learn, hey, Biden gave 919 people access to the same system. And the media didn't seem to even blink.
[00:03:06] Now, they say Trump is cutting thousands of IRS employees. That's great news. This comes a single day after Doge says we're auditing the IRS. Will it be enough? I pray the answer is yes, but I don't know. There's just so much government waste, so much government confusion, so much—but you know what? Think about what Trump's accomplished in literally 30 days.
[00:03:34] He's done it primarily without congressional support, too. I mean, yeah, Congress has put through a couple of nominees, and that's great. Don't get me wrong. But Congress virtually hasn't done hardly anything. The only thing they've accomplished is the Lincoln-Riley Act, which is good for them. They've put a few nominees forward for Donald Trump. Good for them. But, you know, for literally being at work six weeks—you know, they started January the 3rd, right? So, literally being at work for six-plus weeks, I don't see that Congress has accomplished much at all.
[00:04:03] I wish they'd support President Trump by putting legislative reality behind President Trump's executive orders. I don't like ruling by executive order. That which they can giveth by executive order can be taken away by executive order. Remember that. So if you want to temporarily put something in place and say, hey, we've got to do this to save billions of dollars while Congress gets this worked out, by all means. But Congress has a due diligence here that, to me, they're absolutely failing at right now. But Trump is cranking it up.
[00:04:32] Here's what Trump has to say about just getting started. In less than a single month, the Department of Government Efficiency has already saved over 55—this is just a short period of time—55 billion dollars. And we're just getting started. That's nothing compared to the numbers that you're talking about, right?
[00:04:54] We're ending trillions of dollars in waste, and it'll mean much lower inflation, lower interest rates, lower payments on mortgages, credit cards, car loans, and much higher stock markets. I think the stock market's going to be great. In other words, we will rapidly grow our economy by dramatically shrinking the federal government that we have to do it. We will dramatically grow our economy by shrinking the government. Amen to that, Eldon Stahl.
[00:05:23] Welcome to the broadcast, sir. Eldon is a field coordinator for the John Birch Society, jbs.org, thenewamerican.com. Welcome, and what do you think of that statement, sir? Well, yeah, it's really exciting. Glad to be here. Thanks. Thanks, Bill. What do you think, though? We're going to grow the economy by shrinking government. It's a good start, isn't it? Yeah, it is.
[00:05:48] It kind of reminds me of we're having this debate in the legislature in Wyoming, and they're saying, oh, we want to cut all these property taxes. Okay, great. But the talk about reducing taxes is kind of meaningless without talking about reducing spending. So it's really nice to see somebody starting with where the focus should be, reducing spending.
[00:06:14] And then, you know, we'll wake up and find out, hey, we don't really need all these taxes, do we? Well, there you go. And usually what they try to do, whatever they, you know, have kind of a dearth of government money, then they just complain that it's the end of the world. But then if they ever have any extra money in the kitty or, you know, rainy day funds or whatever else, they let that number grow to crazy proportions.
[00:06:41] And they seem to not make a connect between what you're bringing in more money than is necessary, but you're not doing anything to give relief to the people. And this is where President Trump is saying, hey, I want to abolish the IRS and start giving the money back to the people. People are freaking out, going, oh, my gosh, tariffs are going to ruin everything. But not if you get rid of my income tax. Not if you shut down that internal spigot and crank up the external spigot.
[00:07:05] You can say there'll be a shift in expenditures or tax collecting, but it'll become much more constitutional, much less direct, much less prying into our private lives. This seems like a win-win. The only question left is, do you think President Trump can really get it done? I mean, I get that he's just getting started, but do you think he can keep up this kind of pace? Do you think that Trump will be able to dismantle the IRS, Eldon?
[00:07:35] That would probably be pretty difficult because, you know, the IRS was created, for what I understand, at least, after the 16th Amendment was ratified. And it gave Congress the power to levy a progressive income tax, regardless of population apportionment in the various states, which is what the Constitution required.
[00:08:02] Now, the problem with that, though, is many say that it was never properly ratified, and there's even books written by Red Beckman and others proving that it was never properly ratified.
[00:08:12] Yeah, I'm familiar with that, and that is, you know, of course, worth debating, but at this point, the 16th Amendment is treated as ratified, and that's how, you know, basically we have the government that we, and the Constitution that we understand and demand that it be implemented, regardless of whether, you know, this or that is correct or not.
[00:08:43] So, for Trump to try to get rid of the IRS, really, it would take an act of Congress to do that. Now, it doesn't mean that he couldn't do some things with executive orders, but he's not going to be president forever, and it may well come back. We'd end up with both an income tax and, you know, more tariffs.
[00:09:07] And that's kind of why I'm concerned moving forward with the tariffs plan before you dismantle the other plan, because what we've learned from government over the past hundreds of years is that whenever they put a tax in place, it's almost impossible to get rid of it. Even if they claim it was temporary, even if that was, you know, it's kind of like a, what do they call those toll roads? You know, they first say, well, we're going to just pay for the road, then they get the road paid for, then they increase the tolls and just become a big old racket.
[00:09:34] Okay, if we're not careful, that's what we're going to see here, and our goal is not to criticize President Trump on this, but our goal is, as I started out the show, Eldon, what we've got to have is Congress double down and support the president here. We have an opportunity to literally get rid of income tax. It could be done fairly easily if the Republicans stick together. I believe there's some yellow dog Democrats. Those are the kind of Democrats that want to, you know, rein in spending as well. They want accountability financially.
[00:09:59] I believe you could literally push this, and if you've got the American people to start pushing their congressmen and senators, you could create a court of public opinion rally across the country that would absolutely make this a, we're not going to move on until we abolish the IRS plan. If you could get that kind of traction, it is doable. But again, I appreciate what Trump's doing, but hey, if you rule by executive, it's like the three in basketball. You know, they say you live and die by the three-pointer, right? Okay, you're going to live and die by executive orders if you're not very careful.
[00:10:28] And I'm not trying to be too critical. I'm not an executive order guy, but I understand what President Trump's trying to do. He's trying to get all these initiatives started, and he's off to a great start with some great momentum. But unless Congress doubles down and supports his efforts, I'm telling you, it's going to be a lot of for nots. This is the time where we need to engage Congress. When we come back, I want to ask you, Eldon, what have they even done in the last six weeks, Congress? I don't see a whole lot. Hang tight. We'll talk about it on your radio.

For 50 years, the Rust family, three generations have been helping people understand precious metals, take possession of precious metals, and a whole lot more. Freewatercoinco.com. [00:13:25] You heard there's no such thing as Kentucky Fried Chicken anymore, right? Not really. They're moving Kentucky Fried Chicken to Texas, buddy. So it's now going to be TFK. I don't know if they're really changing their name or not. I know they moved their corporate headquarters. You want to know why? Because the taxes were too abusive in Kentucky. And there's no, what is it, income tax in Texas? There you go. So I guess they're going there to save cash, my friend.
[00:13:54] What do you think about TKC? I love it. Or no. K or TFC, I guess it is. Texas Fried Chicken, right? TFC. It sounds good. It could be all right. All right. Right before the pause. Is everything bigger in Texas? Well, hey, I hope that means we get bigger pieces of chicken. That's right. All right. Trump says he's just getting started. I question will Trump be able to dismantle the IRS right before you joined, Brian.
[00:14:24] I had asked Eldon, hey, you know, look, we've got to get Congress into this discussion. I appreciate the executive orders. And it's a great start because it's showing where the president wants to go. It's providing billions of dollars of relief every day that you make these changes while Congress works on it. Saves millions and billions of dollars. It's great. But at the same time, we've got to have Congress literally step up to this plate or else it's going to be like the three in basketball. You live and die by the three. Well, you live and die by executive order if that's all we do.
[00:14:52] Because there's checks and balances and there's congressional responsibility. Congress doesn't seem to be doing anything, Eldon. Yeah. Well, of course, they've been busy to a certain extent with the Trump nominations and all that and interviewing those people. And you're talking about 100 senators there that do that. The House doesn't do that. Right. So there's 435 people that aren't even involved in that.
[00:15:18] And then out of those 100 senators and anything else, I mean, it's pretty easy just to pop in your vote when it's time or whatever. 90% of those debates are a waste of time. Let the clowns, you know, harass whoever for whatever they do. But it comes down to a vote. I don't think that's a big time suck. They're making it sound like it is. But I don't think in reality it is. Eldon? Yeah, that's a good point. And, you know, the House, you kind of wonder what have they been doing?
[00:15:46] I guess they've had some sort of new Doge committee or something and been doing stuff with that and some investigations on waste. That's fine. But how many people are that compared to the 435? Anyway, Brian, I want you to chime into this, too. What do you think? I look at this and go, I don't even know what Congress has done. I can point to a couple of little things like a half a day's work or something. But these clowns have been at it for six weeks, Brian. Yeah, it seems like the same pattern that we've been seeing over the last number of years. They seem to drag their feet.
[00:16:16] They don't seem to work together. And we're seeing some great strides here by President Trump to trying to make a difference, to stop the bleeding and get some things done. And yet we just this lame duck Congress, they just seem to drag their feet and just keep tying up loose ends. And I think as the American people, we're excited to see some of these changes. We have to make change. And I think we're excited to see and get some transparency in this government.
[00:16:44] But I think those on Trump's side need to really start stepping up and voicing their opinions about, hey, why are you dragging your feet? And let's get some things done here instead of just – yeah, I think the people want it. Now, they say there's a big battle in the budget regarding the House and the Senate, and they both put forth their budgets. The other side says your budget's DOA, and the other side says, no, your budget's DOA.
[00:17:13] And my daddy's bigger than your daddy because he's got a leather wallet. And the other one's like, I got a thread wallet, man. I'm lean and mean. We're wasting time, people. What are they talking about? Look, spending bills are supposed to originate in the House, Brian. Yeah, that's exactly right. And that's one of the things I think we're talking about a little bit here is they can't seem to get some of this stuff done. And we're spending recklessly and have been forever. We're just trillions of dollars in debt.
[00:17:43] Something's got to stop. And so, I mean, put the pressure on these Congress to make a difference. The people want a difference. Make a difference or get out. Be done. All right. Now, Musk is in the news. They say Musk runs the government. Trump says that's a lie. Musk just works for me.
[00:18:03] But I don't know if you know, but Musk's Elon Musk's X will now pay Trump 10 million dollars over the censorship suit settlement reached after Trump campaigned or I'm sorry, after Trump's complaint following the capital scandal. And so there's a big battle over that. But Trump got 10 million from X alone. Now, that's kind of, I guess, a personal Trump got the money or whatever. But I look at that and I go, man, even the courts can act.
[00:18:33] And, you know, Elon can say, yeah, you're right. You've been wronged and I'll take care of it. No problem. It signifies accountability. You know, even Elon Musk has to pay 10 million for something that he wasn't even in charge of. But, hey, to me, there's an accountability factor here. And if they're going to criticize Elon, I'm going to come back and say, at least he's being somewhat accountable. He wronged Trump. He wronged me, too. Where's my piece of the pie? So you look at this and you go, hmm.
[00:19:02] Internally, it's hard to say that they don't have a right to demand accountability because they're even delivering accountability right there, Brian. And that's right. So they're, by example, we're seeing some of the things happen. But we just need to get together. You know, the left just seems to tie everything up. They don't want you to, they don't want to move the train. They just want to tie it all up and this problem's here and there's more problems. And now they're, you know, they're panicked about all these people are losing their jobs.
[00:19:31] Okay, well, you know, that's part of this plan. And he said he was going to do it. And it's, if you crunch the numbers, the minority that are getting, you know, losing their jobs, yeah, you feel bad about them and so on. But, boy, we sure seem to have a lot of money to give every other country. I mean, it's really, yeah, it's a joke. All right. Speaking of gold and silver, where's the numbers looking, Brian?
[00:19:58] $2,935.10, up 15 bucks. Wow. All right. Silver? $33.25, up a dollar from last week. Do you expect this to change quite a bit? Yeah, I think the, you know, the numbers, you know, we're seeing gold hitting higher prices. You know, some of that they're saying, well, the concern of tariffs and this is causing some of this problem.
[00:20:25] But realistically, you know, when you look back, you know, in the 90s, they sold off a lot of gold and, you know, replaced it with paper IOUs. So that, you know, that, you know, gold and silver, you know, fiat currency, because on paper, they just got a lot of problems. So now they're scrambling to get physical gold.
[00:20:50] And if, you know, they're talking about, okay, well, if our country is going to be stable again, we've got to back it by some kind of, you know, solid, you know, metal or that. And so there's a scramble going on there. And yet the demand across the world is still climbing. Do you think that Elon Musk and company can open up and audit the treasury or Fort Knox, right? Yeah. That's going to happen.
[00:21:20] Well, that sends ripples through the, you know, the, I think those who have been behind that, because I don't think there's been money or gold in Fort Knox forever. And we haven't audited it for what, 50 years. So, I mean, you know, there's the whole thing is reckless as far as, you know, taking care of our, our money and, and America's gold seems to be sitting in Fort Knox, but I don't believe it's there. So there's a big scramble. Do you think that they'll really get that audited and transparent?
[00:21:49] I mean, I, I want them to go in there, like with freaking, you know, GoPro cams where they got head cams is going that sucker live, dude, do reality TV. Let's just get it done and see what's really there. That's right. I'm all for that as well. But I think that there again, it's going to be. You're ready, Brian. We're going in, buddy. You know what I mean? Yeah. I think it's awesome. What do you think, Eldon? I think we need to do that. And I don't want to just hear talk. I really think we need to audit it. It needs to be done transparently.
[00:22:18] Yeah, I think so, too. It's really, it's something that, I mean, we got to have, we got to have transparency. We've got to know what's going on. So, you know, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does a lot of commercials that are just like public service announcements, good commercials. And they talk about family and they talk about all these different things. And at the end, they say, isn't it about time? And then, hey, it's a message from whatever.
[00:22:43] And I look at that and I'm just thinking, well, we talked about auditing the Fed, shutting down these places, auditing USAID, auditing the defense budget, auditing, you know, the IRS. Brian, isn't it about time? That's a good point. It is about time. And I think that's one of the things that we're talking about here first off. Isn't it about time that we, the Congress gets steps up and does their job? Isn't it about time that we get some kind of control over this reckless spending?
[00:23:12] About time to protect our own and take care of our own country instead of helping everybody around the world? It is about time, Sam. That's a great point. All right. BRICS is in the news. The BRICS dollar replacement. How close are we is the question. Looks like BRICS and many others are now moving away from the U.S. dollar. This is just a matter of time.
[00:23:39] How close do you think we are really when it comes to the BRICS dollar replacement? I mean, is it all of a sudden going to haunt us or do we still have a long time? What do you think, Brian? Reality check, right? Yeah, but I think all these countries are looking at this and trying to figure out and scramble to kind of where they be. I mean, we've already seen, we're already seeing Russia giving gold to China for trade. We're seeing other countries not trading in the dollar as well. They're trading.
[00:24:04] So the dollar's losing favor, and I think we're going to lose the dollar, just like every other country's been valued over the years. We're the only country to have it. So, yeah. If you can't expand, if you can't continually expand the Ponzi scheme, ladies and gentlemen, it eventually melts down. That's the reality check from history. All right, man. Brian Rust with us. You're talking to freewatercoinco.com. You've got a friend in the honest money business.

[00:30:24] Brian Rust, FreeWaterCoinCo.com on your radio discussing honest money. It is time for the honest money report. Held and installed with us. John Birch Society as well. Look, ladies and gentlemen, it is time for Congress to act. Congress needs to make permanent sweeping changes to zero out the wasteful funding and spending. It's time to support Doge. It's time to get it done now. But we're talking about the BRICS dollar replacement. How close is it?
[00:30:54] I want to point this out. There's several things to discuss here, Brian. Number one, they say there's like $2 trillion digital and physical at any given time in the system. How true that is in terms of actual dollars is hard to analyze because fractionalized banking is at the core. So it's really difficult to put a real number on the fake money scandal.
[00:31:20] But the reason that I bring it up is because they say 50 to 70 percent of it is literally outside of the United States. So these moves are not insignificant. The only thing you can do is start pulling a lot of that physical currency out of the international world to try to rein that in. But I look at that and I go, so we've got a battle over currency and the BRICS is a threat.
[00:31:48] But the next threat that I see at the same time is this headline here from The Blaze. Gold at $3,500 an ounce. J.P. Morgan Chase just announced a massive gold acquisition move, $4 billion worth of gold amid what they call tariff fears. So J.P. Morgan Chase buying $4 billion in gold as a quick move.
[00:32:17] It's a massive gold acquisition. What do you say to that? Well, I think they're scrambling because they've been illegally manipulating this market for years. The government finds them every year, them and a number of other banks and institutions, for illegal trading as far as, okay, you buy and purchase this option or whatever,
[00:32:42] and you have the right to call it in when it's due or whatever and take possession. Well, I have clients coming into my store now who've asked for their gold to be delivered by these institutions, and they send them a check. And also with a note that says, yeah, in fine print down here on your contract, we don't actually have to give you the gold. We can just give you a check. Well, so this racket or this game that's being played, they don't have the metal.
[00:33:10] And if you're selling it 200 or 300 times per piece, well, yeah, you're scrambling to kind of save face, I believe, and that's kind of what these moves are. Well, and the only reason they've allowed that paper play to say we'll give you a check is because they know if they don't do that, the whole system will fail and melt down. So when you look at the BRICS dollar replacement and then you look at everybody scrambling for gold, it's not looking good.
[00:33:37] However, if Trump can decrease spending, can get rid of the IRS, can pull a lot of that currency out of the marketplace, it might restore a lot of confidence and delay a lot of this transition if he does it right. I know that the Democrats don't believe that. They just want you to believe that, you know, hey, Johnny, dump the milk and there's no way to save us. But I believe it can really extend quite a long time, the fake currency. I'm not a fan of fake currency, but I don't want the plane to crash either.
[00:34:05] And so to me, there's a lot of hope in what's being done. If it's done right, it could have a serious effect. It's a confidence game and people are losing confidence. But you could restore a lot of that confidence with the actions Trump is taking, Brian. Well, that's exactly right. I think it is. And they're trying to hold on to kind of what we have here as an exchange.
[00:34:25] But if you look over history, you know, countries and powers, Romans and Great Britain, France, all of them have had play in maintaining the currency or being the powerhouse of this money system. Well, we've done it over 100 years or so, and we're losing face. And, I mean, what is fiat money?
[00:34:51] You know, it's unbacked tangible assets that allow these governments and central banks to manipulate the monetary system at will. And it's out of control. And so, and we're seeing it. Countries aren't trading in the dollar anymore, and it's going to have a big effect. And that's what BRICS is doing and others. Eldon, do you think that Trump, if he cuts enough spending and, you know, pulls a lot of those dollars out of existence to make the dollar a little bit, will it build enough confidence or is it too late?
[00:35:22] That is a big question, Sam. There's a limit to how much Trump can do, of course, but the president does have quite a bit of discretion generally on a lot of these spending bills. They don't, you know, say in detail everything that he must do or must not do with the money. I know this. He needs to move us to honest money. That's for sure.
[00:35:50] I think the state of Utah and other states have followed are setting the standard where we can basically have constitutional currency compete with other monies. Good money can chase out the bad is really the case here. How big of a problem is Social Security fraud, you might ask? This relates directly, Brian, as well. A 2024 report from Social Security's, quote, Inspector General states that from fiscal 2015 through 2022,
[00:36:18] the agency paid out almost $8.6 trillion, no, $8.6 trillion in benefits. So that's basically a trillion dollars a year in Social Security alone. That is a serious stealing from the people, socialist redistribution of the wealth.
[00:36:41] But then they say this, including $71.8 billion, so $72 billion, they say that's less than 1% in improper payments. But to me, I don't care if it's less than 1%. Okay, we're talking about literally, let's see, $72 billion. You can say that's less than 1% and try to minimize that number, Brian, but to me, that's a huge number regardless. Yeah, it's a big problem.
[00:37:11] You know, and if we go down the government realms of spending and looking to all these programs, there's a lot of abuse that goes on, and I would say into the trillions of dollars. And I think with Trump jumping in there and trying to have transparency in all these departments and so on,
[00:37:34] it's going to cut some of this stuff that's going on that shouldn't be going on and hopefully can get a control. This is just one, I think, of a lot of different organizations in the government that are just recklessly spending money. And where does it go? They just come up with something that we lost, what was it, $400 billion or something, that they don't even know where they spent it. I mean, how do you do that?
[00:38:01] Well, if you're a criminal, you do that very easily, and what we need is criminals to go to prison for that either. You better show us where the money is, or if it was on your watch, the money was lost, you know, what do you do if you're running the till at somebody's little store at the end of the day? If the money's not there and you were the one watching the till at some point, people are going to go, hey, it was on your watch that this got stolen here, you know? Right. That's what needs to happen. And I look at this, and all I can tell you is we've got to have the American people back President Trump, and we've got to have Congress start to take serious action.
[00:38:31] Because Trump, if he's left alone, it's like any good sheriff or any other public official. If you don't back them and they're on their own, they'll eventually get their feet cut out from under them, Brian. Last comment from you. Yeah. Amen, Sam. I agree 100%. You're talking about the right stuff, and it needs to happen. What do I need to get now? What's the best deal, Brian? A little bit at a time, either nickels, dimes, quarters, halves, silver rounds. I mean, it all works.
[00:39:01] What's the Silver Eagle Silver Dollar running right now? They're pushing, let's see, you're pushing probably somewhere around that $38, $39 range. All right, so you can still get Silver Eagles for under $40, ladies and gentlemen. Nickels are still under melt. We're selling those under melt. So, yeah, those are good. All right, nickels are a great option. Brian, we sure appreciate you, sir. Thanks so much. Brian's got a fly, ladies and gentlemen. Thanks. All right, Rust, Quint, and Gift is what it used to be called, but now it's called Free Water Coin Co.
[00:39:31] They changed the name to be more congruent with the founding of the organization. But we're talking about Brian Rust and the Rust family. [00:39:59] It's time for Congress to act, Eldon. I've been saying this for a long time. Look, Congress needs to act. They need to make, quote, permanent sweeping changes to, quote, zero out the wasteful funding. They need to basically close many of these damaging agencies. They need to demand, and we the people need to demand, that Congress ends the non-essential spending.
[00:40:25] They need to support Doge and kickstart what they call the golden age of America. When they start talking golden age, I always think of tyranny. So be careful with that. We'll come back while Eldon respond to that. And then I want to talk about this failed electric vehicle company. You and I paid for a bunch of it. We'll talk about it with Eldon. Thanking Brian Rust, freewatercoinco.com. Returning in seconds on your radio.

[00:43:03] Back with you live, ladies and gentlemen. Eldon Stahl with us, field coordinator for the John Birch Society, JBS.org, and TheNewAmerican.com. TheNewAmerican.com with some great stuff as well. We'll get into more of that next hour. Eldon, I'm saying we've got a literally a very narrow window right now for we, the people, to start backing the president, start pushing Congress. We have got to reduce spending. We have got to create accountability and transparency. We need to really push our congressional reps.
[00:43:29] We need to be kind and polite but absolutely insistent this is our time. It's about time, and it's time to get it done. We have an opportunity that we've never had. I'm almost 60 years old. We've never had an opportunity in our lifetime like this, Eldon. Yeah, that's right. And, you know, what's amazing is how actually responsive Congress is if we pressure them.
[00:43:57] If we say, you know what, we want you to stop spending money on X, Y, Z. Often they'll do it. But the reverse of that is also true. Historically, the last quite a few years, we've just said, you know what, I really want you to spend money on my pet project, the thing that I love. And Congress says, okay, we'll do it. And everybody's gotten to be part of that. Everybody wants a piece of the pie.
[00:44:27] And so, but if we change our way of thinking and say, you know what, I think there's some things that Congress and government just should not be doing. And we can keep our money and spend it how we wish. If we make that message loud and clear to Congress, they will respond because they want to get reelected, don't they?
[00:44:54] And we can be polite, but we must, in my mind, be insistent, right? We have got to literally say this is not, I mean, this is a request. We're being polite. But this is something that we don't have patience for. You've got to deliver on this now. Or I'm telling you, we're going to find somebody else who will. We've got a very narrow window. And I know people aren't thinking about this. But look, it's a very short window.
[00:45:24] President Trump has got four years in office. I get that. But the whole, meaning 435 members of the House, only have two years. So 24 months. And as far as I can tell, they've already wasted one 24th of that and a half. So, you know, almost, you know, what is one 24th anyway? Anyway, it's hard to, you know, one out of 24 plus two weeks. So six weeks out of 24 months.
[00:45:53] They've already wasted a lot of time. I don't see that they've accomplished much. They're about to just go head to head on a budget disaster that I don't know how this is going to go. But my guess is it's going to go like it's always gone. We'll bring it right down to the wire. We'll tell you how horrible it is, how we can't. I mean, people are going to die and suffer and starve. And the end of the world is going to happen, Brian and Eldon. But you know what?
[00:46:19] Golly, we'll just pass a we'll kick the can down the road again. See, continuing resolution or CR. We got to put that in place. We don't really have a choice. Never mind that we squandered the last three months on it. Never mind that we literally spent ourselves into oblivion in the lame duck at the end of 24. Never mind. See, we can't let that happen, Brian. We can't let that happen, Eldon. What do you say? That's right.
[00:46:47] We got to stop falling for this trick. And, you know, it's kind of like the old saying, why does a football coach keep using the same plays? Because they work. Well, okay, if the other team keeps falling for your play, then keep running it, right? But we got to stop falling for those tricks.
[00:47:13] Yeah, we need to think of Lucy in the football and say, no thanks. But let me give you an example to make the point. Nikola. Nikola. It's an electric vehicle startup. And this group was supposed to make big, massive, diesel, semi-type electric vehicles. They received federal funding, by the way, during the Biden administration. Biden should be, you know, criminal for that. But again, you got to blame Congress, too.
[00:47:40] You know, Biden only had the money Congress gave him unless he stole it. Then that's a whole other criminal enterprise to take down. But they say this was once valued at $30 billion, this company. They filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, melting down. Absolute failure. Well, our tax dollars were at the center of that, Eldon. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. We always end up holding the bag, don't we? It seems like it never ends.
[00:48:10] New York just had to pay $206 million to settle all kinds of lawsuits, misconduct suits by their cops and everything else. It accounts for 27% of the $756 million the city's paid in such lawsuits over the last seven years. There again, the New Yorkers are paying for that. How much we the people or how much the feds are paying for that part, I don't know. But that's a significant number due to misbehavior, right?
[00:48:41] It doesn't add up, doesn't it? I mean, to me, it's just weird. It's like that much misconduct. Where are the people in charge of these organizations? I mean, is there going to be any accountability? And see, the problem is I doubt it. And that's where we are in America. Now, lawmakers, just so you know, they're spending their time on this, Eldon. Lawmakers rally for AM radio for every vehicle act.
[00:49:11] There you have it. And I look at this and I go, what on earth is Congress spending their time on that for right now? Of all the problems we face, of all the mismanagement of money and funding, and of all the issues that we've got, the debt ceiling staring us in the face, the budget, you know, reconciliation discussions. And these guys are like, hey, we need AM radio in every car. First off, they don't have authority to force AM radio in every car. Secondly, it's a clown discussion.
[00:49:39] It's a clown topic compared to what we've really got on the table right now. Eldon, do you want to speak to that? They're literally talking about pushing for working on an AM mandated AM radio in every car. Well, often what happens is whoever has the biggest lobbyists and the most lobbyists, they're the ones that carry the day. They're the ones that get the ears of Congress.
[00:50:06] And unless we make our voice louder, they don't know. They don't know where they should prioritize their time. And so, you know, Congress has made up of people. They're real people just like me and you. And they, you know, base their actions on the input they get. Now, here's what's fascinating.
[00:50:32] If anybody should be interested in wanting an AM radio in every car, wouldn't it be me, Eldon? If Congress would mandate that? Yeah, I'm just saying if there's anybody that should be for that, if you set aside principle and morals and you're just out for Sam Bushman, hey, an AM radio in every car benefits Sam Bushman more than most people by far. But I'm against it on principle. Sure.
[00:51:01] I mean, if Congress is going to, if we're going to say Congress has authority to mandate an AM radio in every car, then Congress has authority to mandate a vinyl record player in every car or a track tape player in every car. Or I just think I need, I need, I need, what do they call that? Gourmet meals is what I need. Sure. I mean, the sky's the limit, right? Where do you draw the line? Absolutely.
[00:51:27] The thing is, we're ignoring the lines that are already drawn. The lines are already drawn in the Constitution. We need to understand and insist that the Constitution be followed. Because eventually, that's going to come, that idea that Congress should mandate XYZ in every car or, you know, the chicken in every pot or whatever people like to say,
[00:51:55] eventually it's going to come back to bite you. Right. I think they need to mandate a radio in every car. And they also need to have a Sam Bushman Liberty Roundtable Live button in every vehicle. So that all you've got to do when you want to listen to Liberty Roundtable Live and you've caught up on the news, you just hit the Liberty Roundtable Live button. And, buddy, it just comes out. See, don't you think we need to do that? I think maybe, you know, how about supersize that, Sam?
[00:52:23] How about a Liberty Roundtable representative in every passenger seat? Now you're talking. You've got to have somebody that's a spokesperson in every car that's riding with people that, you know, I mean, right, it just could go on and on. Yeah. And that way if people try to turn the channel or something like that, no, no, no, no, no. Are you sure you want to turn that dial? Yeah. We're demonstrating the absurd by being absurd, ladies and gentlemen. This is what we're talking about.
[00:52:53] Why on earth would the – just think what the founding fathers would think. The general government at the federal level, they're $36 trillion in debt and melting down fast. They're at war over every topic under the sun. They can't get anything done. They're literally paralyzed. And at the end of the day, they're like, yeah, we need to mandate a radio in every car. And guys like me that are broadcasters that could benefit most are going, no, no, and no. It's unconstitutional. It's immoral. It should never happen.
[00:53:23] Now, should we put together a public service campaign that educates the American citizen about the value of radios in cars so that, hey, people can understand the repercussions of the change? Oh, by all means. But to federally mandate it or legislate it, they have no authority whatsoever, Eldon. Yeah, that's right. That's right. It's like in the founding fathers' day saying, you have to have a town crier in every buggy.
[00:53:53] I don't know what the analogy would be. But it's just – it's insanity, ladies and gentlemen. Hour one on the can, two coming up. CPAC's kicking off. We've got a representative going to be broadcasting live from there checking in with us. We've also got a bunch of New American stories from the New American to talk about with our dear friend Eldon Stahl. Eldon Stahl, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the field coordinators for the John Birch Society. JBS.org, thenewamerican.com. Great people get involved because they've been on target for longer than I've been alive.
[00:54:22] Great people. Great stuff. Hang tight. Hour one on the can, Eldon Stahl and Sam Bushman. Hour two coming up. Lovingliberty.net is our nationally syndicated partner.
